BVP Series
« on: July 22, 2005, 02:26:17 AM »
Is there any overlap in the BVP series?  If you had to pick only 2, would you go with the Nemesis and Rampage, or some other combination?

I've heard that the Nemesis responds really well to cover changes, but haven't heard anything about the Punisher and Rampage.  I imagine the Goliath is too strong for any conditions that I'm likely to see.

I don't think there is any overlap I think they have an Ideal low price 4 ball series/arsenal.  Pretty nice and especially for the price.

Goliath for true oil
Nemesis for medium/heavy
Rampage for mediums
Punisher for lighter stuff

If I had to pick only two:  Nemesis and Punisher, adjusting covers to taste.  But that's because I like the idea of carrying different coverstocks in the bag.

IME the Goliath is a great ball for evening out severe wet-dry conditions.  Think 21st Century urethane replacement.

I've heard that it is super strong, and unless you see a lot of oil it will just burn up too quickly.  ???

How do you think the series would match up against an AMF Changeling (Triumph core with SuperFlex cover)?

I'm looking to add a ball, and the Changeling is about $40 cheaper, but I don't really know anything about SuperFlex.

I have found Superflex to be a rather aggresive coverstock. In the Pearl Version my Ti Messenger B/S/P was perhaps the strongest backend ball i've ever thrown.

i have the nemesis and it's working great as a medium condition ball. it's wetsanded 800 grit and has brunswicks polish on it. i also have the punisher and i'm seeing great length out of this ball. these two balls are almost at opposite ends of the spectrum. if you have to get two balls in the bvp line these would be the two. you could also wetsand the nemesis for oilier lanes and the surface on the punisher is just as easily changed. don't write off the goliath as just a heavy oil particle. if the balls surface is properly prepared it can tone down the over/under on wet/dry lanes and be a good first ball out of the bag.

Not for me, it didn't.  Granted, I don't have a *lot* of hand, but I can get on it when I need to.  That said, even in box condition, the Goliath didn't burn too early for me as long as I had *some* oil in the front part of the lane.

If there is oil up front and clean backends, nothing can stop the Goliath out of the gate! Cheater ball to the N'th degree....

If I had to choose two, I'd go Rampage and Goliath.
