Why IS BrunsNick on staff?
« on: March 06, 2008, 12:49:14 PM »
Inspired by the most knowledgable posters on this forum!

quote:
I'm suprised Brunswick actually lets you go around making fun of people and continually arguing and causing stupid sht...

I know my boss doesn't let me do it.. especially since he reads on here.. so if I say something dumb I get told about it! :-p

If that was the case for you, you would actually get kicked off Brunswicks staff. Actually whats more suprising is that you even on their regional staff? Very few top 16 runs on the regional tour, no wins.. how many people do you know on the inside that make sure you stay on staff? Especially since Brunswick is one of the, if not THE, hardest company to get on staff with!

You wanna question Lane #1.. now lets question you!

(And no comments how I'm not on staff.. I'm also 19, still a junior bowler, and I never wanna be on staff.. even if I ever got to the point where I could.)

I am definitely not the best bowler in my Region. I definitely don't have any titles. I don't make very many finals...

So why bother putting a donk like me on staff?!?!

I'm guessing because...you have a pro shop...you have a website...and because you make videos....and because you sold me a hat....and because......well I'm out of ideas?

Things were funny in the start, but now it's just beating a dead horse. It's very childish from someone who's supposed to be representing a brand.

It's kinda like Will Ferrell's movies. Anchorman is hilarious. Semi-Pro is just the same thing and has lost its novelty.

I used to ask Robert Lawrence, Nick's Brunswick Rep., all the time how he could put a "Where's Waldo" lookalike on Staff.

The truth of the matter, and forgive me Nick, but Robert has had to pull him aside and say enough. But you have to admit, there is NO ONE who is more dedicated to the Brunswick brand.

While Nick does have his peculararities, there is not too many other people that bleed Brunswick Blue as much as he does.

Plus he does have his "Big B" apparel site.

What it comes down to is ball sales. Nick sells the crap out of Brunswick balls, bags, shoes, accessories & apparel at the shop he runs.

Remember, this is the same little punk who said this a months back;
quote:
And yeah, I do know it all.. I don't spend 30+ hours a week learning more about bowling for my heatlh... I do it so I know more than all of you.. which I do. (besides the random few that are staffers/work in the bowling business.. which that population is decreasing little by little)

You don't need to be a good bowler to be on staff. All you need to do is sell balls, make entertaining videos and be somewhat informative. Nick is good at all three..!! Brunswick is lucky to have him. =:^D

It was only because his bro was on the ebo staff, needed to create a rivalry between companys. Aside from that Nick sucks and drives a honda.

I don't know what the bashing is all about here right now, I must have missed something.  Either way, Nick has strait up sold me on a couple of balls that I wouldn't have bought otherwise.  His vids are great, especially the comparitive ones, and hes a smart @$$ which I appreciate as well.  I think Brunswick is smart to have him and would be foolish to stop him.  Its not like we are talking about "Action Jackson" here, now if you want to question a staffer... wow.

I suspect that it comes down to the bottom line, sales. No matter where you look there's going to be someone who MIGHT be a better bowler, but on what? House shots?

Speaking for myself, I KNOW it's because of sales. I'm in the busiest pro shop in the whole area. We've already got 2 Storm staffers, 2 Roto staffers, a Columbia staffer, and me with Brunswick very closely tied to our shops. A few years ago our shop was selling virtually zero Brunswick product here in Storm country.

I'm a decent bowler, but my product knowledge and ability to relate to the customer is my strength.  So Brunswick (and any other company) wants people who can be visible, approachable, knowledgeable, and be in a position to sell balls.  If you're not on the PBA tour, what value would you be to the company unless you can sell balls?

I'd like to thank everyone for their kind words...

Verbs, may God love ya... Still bitter you're not around, always had fun around your snide comments and tomfoolery. Maybe I'll bug you at work soon...

Bottom line is I am the best at what I do. I whole-heartedly represent Brunswick because of the people involved and the superior products they produce. My goals are to get people excited about the Brunswick brand, and I do so day in and day out. I have made a lot of friends in the industry, and have created a little bit of a digital empire. I have helped change the way companies market their products, utilizing video demos to showcase the new balls. BrunsNick.com received appx 120,000 hits in the last year. I have created a custom apparel site from scratch, creating revenue for the company through royalties. I've busted my butt every year for local trade shows to help setup displays and answer questions to all customers and fellow pro shop owners. I have also worked the Mini Eliminator on a few occasions, helping lay out balls, working out balls, fetching Ric 15 packets of sugar, grunt work... anything. Oh yeah, and I bowl sometimes.

People ask me what I would throw if I wasn't on Brunswick staff...

The answer is easy...

Brunswick.

Hope that answers your question.

Well said sir! lo!

I think it is painfully obvious why Nick is on staff, he is such an asset to them in an online community such as this. For every 35-50 yr old that hates him there are 12-30 year olds that love his antics anticipate his videos, and listen to his ball suggestions. Single handedly a few people started "the brunswick nation" and everyone wanted to coin a following here on br, changed usernames etc.

Guy is money in the bank for the future of big B, bowling compamys need people like him, Sean Rash, Tommy Jones etc, Walter Ray, Norm Duke aren't gonna be around to be ambassadors of the sport forever, the youth movment is now people.

Nick is a great guy i have talked to him via instant messenger about various things non-bowling related, and he is just as passionate about them as he is about representing and throwing big B. Thats just him. BrunsNick FTW!!!!!

Brunswick likes Brunsnick...for all the things he does. You usually get rewarded for your hard work, From what I've seen he does a good job of it. Need examples...visit brunsnick.com. plenty of info. there.

You may learn a few things...even tho you dont want to be on a staff for whatever reason if you were to create what Brunsnick has, any ball company would be glad to have you on staff.
