Rattler vs Diamond back vs Reign of fire
« on: March 02, 2010, 03:48:30 AM »
I am down to selecting these balls now, Im only looking for one, but the 2 for each brand i mentioned seem like it would be something I throw.. I was suggested to look at a hyroad and Freeze, but I think i might want something a little more aggressive So I chose the Reign of fire over the hyroad. Im really looking at the ratler , but these other 2 make me curious..

I start on the 25 board or so and throw out to the 10 , with a 16-16.5 ball speed with around 320 rpm

Copperhead - early and smooth, great polished IMO.

Reign of Fire - not as early as Copperhead and more angular late.

Rattler - much cleaner through heads than the other 2, and since it's a pearl it will be stronger late (assuming some friction).

It is very similar to the copperhead, a little more length but very smooth.

ive watched the vids, and I liked the fact that the rattler and the diamond back really worked and hooked good for all types of throws.. Im ordering my ball friday and it is basically down to the rattler and the diamond back.. The thing i dont like about the rattler is that in oil it would seem to not be aggressive enough for me, like it would just keep skidding at the break point ( in heavier oil ) while the DB seems it would hook sooner and more continuous with a better chance for a pocket hit instead of a weak or direct headpin hit..

I love to watch a nice aggressive hook, but not mine lol.. It just seems alot less controlled and you could get yourself into a bad situation if thrown wrong.. But it does seem the rattler hooks a lil more aggressive on the back end, but the DB is turning much more and much sooner in general

Thanks man.. Its 60/40 right now in favor of the diamond back, But the back end of the rattler looks pretty nice, as it seems to cut a bit harder at the break point..  Of the 2 is there one that will go through the pins better? Im assuming the DB will be a bit more solid, but the rattler seems like it has the core and the power to really snap and drive through the pins from the brreak point on..??

yea using a bunch of different brands in the past and then not having bought one or even been following the game for a while  its a bit overwhelming at first ..  I always "overkill" the  beginning process of things cuz Once thats done then you have a good base and something that you want right from the beginning .. if that makes sense

Both C-Systems are killer balls. I've shot multiple games in league 250 up to 279 since getting the 2.5 in November.  On the backends, both balls are continuous in driving through the pin deck & string strikes on THS and sport conditions.  I still haven't tapped the full potential of either ball yet, but let me say they are both in my bag these days.  In general, I find most of the Brunswick line released over the past 3 years matches my game you won't go wrong if you buy anything from the Avalanche series on up.

Ok everyone.. last question , I think..

Im either gonna order a heavy 14# or a light 15.. do you think the 14# weight will affect the reaction different than the 15 or will it still hit the pins pretty hard
