AI Box Condition
« on: November 18, 2005, 02:07:23 AM »
got a used AI and it was pretty polished up.  thought the AI was supposed to be "rough buff".  How can I achieve rough buff using sandpaper or scotch brite??

1200 grit???

thanks

On my old AI , I uesd 400 grit wet sand, then some Turtle Wax (Red) Rubbing compound... Looks pretty close to me ...I did the same for my Shock & Awe.

i used green scotch brite (600 grit) on mine and 3M Rubbing Compound (Automotive)

it says on the bottle, "for 1500 grade scratches of Finer"
but after application and aggressive buffing, looks damn good, and definately different than my polished original inferno.

Without Brunswick's Rough Buff, it's very hard to get the same finish.

I'd try Track's Clean and Sheen over a 400 grit sanding; when you finish the ball, try not to press so hard. YOu want to get the cover so it's just short of an actual shine.

A bottle of Rough Buff is not expensive.
