Worst bowling alley
« on: January 13, 2006, 10:36:30 AM »
I bowl at riverside lanes for my school team. Today I was bowling and the pin resetter came down my ball when it hit the pins. I am furious because it was my SmashR. now i put that away and i throw 3 frames with all strikes. Then i figure i will try the SmashR one more time. The pin resetter comes down and puts 3 big dings in my ball and some paint marks on my ball. So my dad sees this and he is mad. so he went to talk to the drunken owner and talked to him about my ball. The owner better buy me a new ball because he ruined my favorite one.

If you live in a glass house, then you shouldn't throw stones and if you gotta glass jaw, you better watch your mouth, cuz i'll break your face.

I could beat that house. I am bowling a tourny today at a bowling alley that has above ground ball returns, the roof collapsed on the lane and the approach, so they both have watermarks on them. It is an 8-lane house and lane 7 has no gutter. The gutter caved in so the just have some padding there. It's gonna be fun.

Meadowcreek Lanes Houston, Tx chews up equipment and spits what's left out. They used to put oil on the lanes w/ a spray bottle(not sure if they still do or not).

Olympic Lanes in Menands, NY (has been the worst big name house)
Bowlers Club in Latham, NY (going downhill fast!)

i'd have to agree with Redwood also, there should be a wrecking ball going through that place real soon, they dont call it "Deadwood" for nothing.

well I don't know how BAD my highschool home lanes are compared to all of yours, but nonetheless just terrible. This is Plaza Lanes in Madison, NJ.. The lanes are BONE dry, literally. Word is if you hit the 1 board it will take off, and through my experience it caused some last minute snap when going for the 7 pin (im a lefty) and on some occasions the 10 pin. Splits that you never thought could happen literally happen. My teammates and I always convo about how if you make a good shot, your likely to get a ridiculous split, or flush shots that are gone to waste with 7/10 pins. While on the other hand, if you throw a relatively bad shot then your going to strike regardless (fluffers, etc.).

Eh don't get me started on the pin resetters. At my home lanes (during the off-season when theres no high-school bowling) I'm used to going 10-15 seconds and the pins are up and ready to go. But at Madison, literally every time it takes at LEAST 30 seconds to a minute to get reset, which gets frustrating after awhile. BUT, the worse part of all is that every match I go to, theres always a couple breakdowns . For instance, I'm working on a turkey and when I get up to the lane it just jams, therefore causing maybe a 10-15 minute repair. Also, theres the occasional "the pin setter didn't pick up the head pin" or blah causing you to reset it over and over, just terrible.
