Classic Zone and Punisher
« on: January 24, 2005, 10:51:33 AM »
for awhile these balls were a great 1-2 punch.  However, suddenly it seems like my Classic Zone just wont turn the corner, where as my Punisher is turning it fine.  It is starting to scare me a bit because before it was very easy to tell when to switch.  The Classic Zone would start checking up early and start hooking crazily, so out comes the punisher.  However recently, it seems like the Classic Zone is becoming way out hooked by the Punisher on conditions that it should be best for.  Any ideas on why this would happen?

update: Today i was on decently oiled lanes.  I used a pearl particle the first two games, worked fine.  Then when it started to grab early, i tried switching to the Classic Zone.  I throw it basically striaght up the second arrow.  Nothing. Barely budged. Went right through the 3 pin.  So i pull out the punisher.  I meant to throw up second arrow, but missed to the right a bit.  It never hit outside 10 where the real dry was, but it still managed to go across the head pin amd go brooklyn (although it did carry it).  Where my Classic didnt move, my punisher hooked like crazy.

Bob- I dont wipe after every shot, but i do a good job cleaning them after every set.  However, i have probably somewhere between 50-75 games on it, and i havent repolished it.  Would that be the problem? Cause if it is ill have it at a spinner first thing tomorrow.

i had the exact opposite. for the first couple weeks the ball was a monster, i had a couple 700s and near 700s.  Now it wont move off anything.  I dont think its oil conditions, because i had to use a  pearl particle ball (although the lanes seemed perfect for what the classic formerly did).  Even the the particle was grabbing too early and over hooking, i was forced to use it because my Classic wouldnt budge.  so i tried my punisher and realized that it was also hooking.  Thats when it started to scare me.  I still have no idea.  If its a simple polishing, i can get that done this weekend.  If its a whole ball rejuvenator thing though... i dont htink i can afford to ;P

If you've only had it a couple weeks there is NO WAY it died. Sounds like the conditions just got drier, and it is too much ball for the condition. Just start the night throwing the punisher instead. No biggy. If the punisher is turning good, why not use it?

o its turning good, and i almost shot a 700 again yesterday (chopped the damn 6-10 in the ninth frame of the last game to shoot 694 )

but whats getting me is that before the fact that the Classic was turning too much would be my clue that it was time to use the Punisher.  Now its not moving at all.  Now what i havent done is get it repolished in the 75 games or so i have on it, i think ill go try that this weekend.

I would bet that if you put it on heavier oil then what your on, it will turn MUCH harder then the punisher. But why mess with it, if you can just use the punisher? It doesnt make sense to make a heavier oil ball into a light oil ball?
