Giving balls a break
« on: October 12, 2006, 04:51:12 PM »
Since getting a Red Zone about 6 or 7 weeks ago, it's been the ONLY thing I've thrown.  I don't use plastic or another ball for spares, so the RZ has been the only ball I've had out of the bag for 3 leagues a week (with a couple sub nights thrown in there).  Lately it's been transitioning a little slow, and I had a rough night with it Tuesday.  Decided to give it a rest and pull something out of the closet.  I need to reslug my Radical, so I went with the Smokin.  Thumbhole needed a little beveling (missed a 9 pin cause I couldn't let go . .), but after a rocky start (got there late, only got one practice shot) on Wednesday, I got hot.  Had 15 in a row at one point, but still managed to screw up a 300 for the second week in a row.  Had the front 10 twice in the last two weeks now, last week it was a 6-10, this week it was a greek church, lol.  734 is a nice rebound set, and especially with a ball I hadn't thrown in a good 3 months.  Does anybody else notice that when you use a ball exclusively for a while that it starts to get lazy on you?  I used my Smokin the last half of the summer and most of last year, and it started getting slow on the backend, but now it's back to full strength.  Used my Radical quite a bit when I first got it, and it started getting lazy after a while too.  Probably just need to bleed the oil out of my RZ, but I'll give it a much deserved break for a while.  I'd say that only one sub-600 set in 7 weeks and my first 800 earns it a rest.  Got my ring today too, didn't know they engraved the date AND the exact score inside the band on 800's, that's kinda cool.  Sharp looking ring.

I've got a NIB Rampage in the closet that I've been debating over drilling up for a good 5 months now.  Usually I can't wait to put holes in something, but I really haven't needed it, and I still don't.  I carry around a RZ and a Smokin now, and the Radical is number 3.  On tour, it may be one thing, but I already have serious overlap without adding a Rampage to the mix.  Need a particle ball . .

Yes, I noticed that too. I guest if you don't used it the for a while then the Oil come out evenly then that makes the ball roll evenly too. Other reason could be the ball you are using now has a weight differences that makes your timing fit perfectly with the other ball. I struggled for fast few 4 weeks I started played just okay then get bad and badder each week then next time I know my average down to 201. But last night I got my swing back timing and ball speed is back. I guest I was looking for a ball to used and practice on it might have corrected my timing. Well, who knows just my theory.

Yeah i knoticed that to on my RS-X, though I used it in two summer leagues (at the same time) and half a regular fall league. I sat it out for a while when I picked up a Trauma Responce that was collecting dust in the shop. Though with the RS-X I completly redid the surface and still no luck till I gave up on it and exclusivly through the Respnce in its stead. I recenlty pulled out the RS-X dulled it to 1000 and its back and kicking agian.
Though some times with the pearl stuff, if you use it and use it and dont repolish it, then it could be getting lazy cause the cover stock is gotten beaten up, repolish it, even if it looks ok, and it should be working again
