Title: Zone Classic...

Post by: shelley on March 11, 2006, 11:25:13 PM: The original is the green pin. Well, the one I've seen has a black pin but green engraving. It's as described on the website. The red pin ZC has a different cover, it's similar to the SlayR cover. As I understand it, it didn't cure properly, and rather than chuck the whole batch in the trash, they pin a different colored pin in it and released it.

They all have the same core, RG, diffs, whatever. I don't know the hook/length/backend ratings for the red pin are, I don't believe Brunswick every released them.

Zone Classic Red Pin is the same core, but the coverstock cured too long making it too hard and causing the ball to go a lot longer down lane before making the backend move. The hardness factor makes it hook more like a SlayR or a Punisher (although from what I've seen Punisher looks stronger than a Red Pin by far). Hence Red Pins are "cheaper" then Green Pins.

As far as where it would fit, best bet would be above a Power Groove and below a Punisher. Great ball for drier lanes (had one but didnt match up) or higher rev rates up the boards on a THS.

Post by: Leftyhi-trak on March 14, 2006, 03:33:28 PM: Pin is slightly above and left of ring finger. ~4.65"pin to pap (diagnol) CG inline and MB 1/2" left of thumb making it about a 80 degree drill. I'm not totally hand challenged at about 350RPM. Didn't kick out the mb to much as i was looking at a longer roll and turn over than my OI drilled the same way. Added a flare increasing hole and see 7-10 boards weaker than OI. Ball does not want to rev up at all which is very weird for a low rg core. Has a long and lazy lope. Have tried many surfaces up to higher grit level wondering if i was wasting to much energy up front and laying off in the back. Seeing 4.5" inches of flare but have no idea where, as it is lucky to hook about 3-4 boards on a medium shot. I would be gladly enlightened so i can use this beast, just very diasppointed as have heard many good things from many reputable people. Have thrown Danger Zones before with about same pattern and had plenty of early rev and backend movement.
