Radical=New High Performance?
« on: June 28, 2006, 03:13:33 PM »
I was just thinking that the Radical may be the new High Performance Line from Brunswick. Instead of changing their popular Inferno name brand though, they changed the Activator Coverstock Family. Perhaps the new line will deal entirely from the new Octane family. This is a smart move on Brunswicks side, they keep their ever popular name and yet, a new line is created.
I've been reading everything I can on the Octane Coverstock and it seems extremely interesting. It seems to be the perfect start of a new line. It is the benchmark like the Original Inferno was but this improves on everything the Original lacked. Clean through the fronts like the Original but with more traction in the backend and a more continues break point.

I don't know, just my thoughts, if anyone has any others, feel more than free to chime in. I could be completely wrong on this one.

It does kind of make sense, with how popular the Infernos are.  As far as the Octane coverstock improving on the Activator or more importantly the Origional inferno, that is highly unlikely.  The Origional Inferno is going to go down as a classic ball, it will be demanded and payed for in great prices on ebay for years to come no matter what the Octane does.  One person's angularity and traction on the backend is another person's unpredictable breakpoint shape and unconntrollability.  It does seem as though the new inferno has great potential though.

Something similar came to my mind, too. Introducing the new Octane stuff in the "old" Inferno line is IMHO not a sound marketing step, unless:
a) an even imrproved coverstock generation is still to come (but then, why not giv it another Activator name?)
b) The "Radical" is a ball line suffix that's connected with the Octane.

For me, when you say Inferno, "Activator" pops into my mind. I may not be representative, but I guess this connection is very strong among the bowling crowd and has been established for 4 years now.

I am curious if there is another Inferno (and with what kind of coverstock?), or if there is another Radical to come? Storm did something similar with the Eraser Banshee, as an interim between the Eraser line and the current Banshees now.
