Strike Zone and Ultimate Inferno
« on: August 05, 2006, 07:03:39 PM »
This is a question for those who have thrown both.  How comparable are the Strike Zone and Ultimate Inferno as far as Strength, Reaction, stuff like that?

My friend is looking for a new ball, and he wants to get an Ultimate, but if the Strike Zone is pretty close and he can save some money, he'll go that route.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank You in Advance!

SZ is a great ball.  A little longer than the UI with a stronger reaction and more continuation.  The UI may be the better ball for traditional heavy oil, but the strike will be great for many different lines and due to the many drilling options, the more versitile piece.  If you have seen mixed things from the Scorchin', well so did I, then I decided to drill one, I consulted my pro shop owner to pick a good drill and wow its great.  My review is in the review section.  You can pm me for further info.

I'd consider both balls equally strong. The SZ just offers the additional drilling option of a high mass bias asymmetrical core ball. The benefit of the SZ core is that with a good driller who knows his trade AND your game, you can fine-tune the ball reaction and achieve a little more length or breakpoint sharpness if desired - but this may be bought with a lack of versatility once the ball is specified by the drilling.

Hard to make a recommendation. It is IMHO much of a basic decision between the core concepts, not the balls themselves. Personally, for heavy oil, I'd go with the UI - simply for the fact that it has a symmetric core which creates IMHO a smoother overall ball reaction for a wider range of conditiosn and occasions.
