Another Reason selling on eBay is a pain-in-the-a$$
« on: February 23, 2017, 12:05:31 PM »

Ball sold on Feb 13th. Here is a list of the messages that followed. The buyer didn't contact me at all during the bidding. Buyers messages are in bold, mine are in italics.

Feb 13th

is there any scratches on it?
-No, it's in perfect condition. Has been out of the original packaging only twice.

Great. Look forward to getting it. Thanks.

-I will get it out tomorrow. Shipping will be FedEx so if it's a residential address, you should have it Saturday. (and here is where I screwed up, shouldn't have mentioned how long I thought it would take for delivery)

-I'll attach a tracking number within a couple of hours

You said I should have the ball by Saturday. FedEx tracking says Tuesday 21. Can it get to pa by Saturday from California?
-Usually FedEx only takes four days with FedEx home but they show it as taking longer on this one. I don't have control of that, sorry.

Feb 14th
It's still awaiting shipment at FedEx so maybe once it arrives at FedEx and they scan it and in transit it might show something different. It only says shipping label has been created.
-Yes, FedEx will pick it up today. They often update the delivery date after pick up.

Ok. It's almost 4:30pm here and no tracking updates yet. I am assuming they have the ball.
-I'm in Califorina, usually the tracking number starts working around 6 PM PST

Feb 15th
FedEx picked up ball on 2/14 but did not depart California until today 2/15. Not sure why it took until today to depart
-It probably has something to do with where you are located and how FedEx ships from Central California to that location. But I don't really know. I sent another ball yesterday at the same time as your and it shows delivery on Saturday.

-I use FedEx because it's always been quicker than UPS for me. Monday is a holiday, so it makes sense they wouldn't deliver it then, so I guess it will be Tuesday when it arrives.

-Before it's usually 4 days for FedEx home delivery to residential areas, but you might fall into an area that is unique.

Feb 17th
I have not seen an update since 2/15. Is there no other FedEx stops between CA and PA?
(my first thought was to ask if he thought I worked for #$@%^*& FedEx, but I kept my cool)
-It's probably on a train, so it won't be scanned until it gets to the east coast.

-I shipped a ball to Iowa the same day as yours and it's scheduled to be delivered today. I shipped a ball Wednesday to Chicago and it's scheduled to be delivered Saturday.

-Yours still might be there tomorrow, but it doesn't look like it at this time. Normally it would be there Monday, but no deliveries on Presidents Day I guess.

Feb 18th
I am starting to wonder about my ball. It's now the 18th and still no update since 15th which says departed Tracy, CA. I would think by now it would have arrived in pa or somewhere closer.
(I didn't reply.)

Feb 20th
Did you get my last email I sent the other day? Ball still says departed from CA on 2/15. This is now the 20th.
-Yes, I received it. Looks like delivery is still scheduled for the 21st.

I know it's still scheduled for delivery the 21st but there has been no other scans since the 15th at any FedEx location. That's what concerns me.
(I didn't reply)

Ball arrived on the 21st just like FedEx originally said. Buyer gave me good feedback, mentioning "good communication".

Sometimes this is like being a baby sitter. You guys who run pro shops honestly amaze me at how well you can control your actions in the face of some bowlers.  ;D

I think he's asking you the questions HE needs to be asking FedEx.....

Once it's shipped, IMO, your responsibility ends.

You have to realize that he spent his money and he was worried if the package has been sent out. Thats why I deal with buyers with certain stars.

The tracking said the package had left had left California. Questions on how FedEx handles their shipping and tracking should go to FedEx.

I probably wouldn't have been as nice. I don't have the answers as to why UPS/FedEx do certain things

My eBay rating is 236(teal star), with zero negative feedback. I buy and sell a lot, so it's not like I'm an unknown.

Fedex/UPS when shipping any distances don't update until the package is close to receiver. Especially coming from West to East or Vice Verse. Understand his needing to feel secure, but this is not your issue. Once you ship you have as much control as he does..

Having done buys/trades with you on here, and seeing your rep on ebay milo, your as class and trustworthy and professional as they come, it's a shame that spoiled bowlers' can't see that your on a site where everything has to go by the book and done in a appropriate manner.

That's why I no longer use that site; Anyway, keep doing the great job that your known for, and I would gladly do business with you again in the future.

Thank you kind sir!

I know that reputation means everything if you intend to sell more than once or you have a pesky little personality trait known as integrity.  ;D

I don't think the guy was questioning me though. I think it was someone who just can't handle waiting for something.  Dude just wanted that ball NOW! LOL

This one just reminded me of how eBay can be a pain and you pretty much have to take whatever they dish out until you get the review from them.

And the guy did give me a positive review, so it worked out better than if I had replied with what I really wanted to say to him.

Ya shoulda just sent him a link to the FedEx transit time map.

If you are willing to hold people's hands and kiss their ass just to get positive feedback then you got what you deserve.

I didn't get the impression Milo was holding his hand or kissing his ass just to get a positive review.  I believe Milo understands as a seller the responsibility to provide good customer service.  Yes, he could have passed the buck to FedEx, but he chose to do everything he could to make sure the customer remained satisfied through good communication.  And in the end it worked. I applaud Milo for his efforts to go beyond what he actually had control over.  Apparently his effort earned him a positive rating as it should.  Congrats.

Getting 10 messages for one transaction and replying to 8 of them is kissing somebody's ass so they will click the positive button.  The feedback system on Ebay is a joke at best.

That's funny. You and I have a different view of what customer service should be.
