The Authority Solid is earlier and stronger and gives me a strong and predictable backend lane reaction. This ball is a tremendous compliment to the original Authority which was much more angular. It makes for a great one-two combo. The Authority Solid is the heavier oil ball that I've been wanting.

The Authority Solid is an outstanding add on to the brand/brands. For me, this ball has an earlier read throughout the lane. It picks up the mid-lane great and has a motion that I needed for when the lanes are oilier. I know here in Rockford the HPL surface makes it hard to throw balls like this but it really rolls great in a majority of the centers. Viking Lanes, B and B Park Bowl, Park Lanes, Freeport Lanes and Cherry Bowl. All of these centers have different characteristics and I can find a use for this ball at all of them. Great for playing straighter with good ball speed. Very good for players that like to move left and need a ball to slow down for them the right way. This one is a great choice to add into your bag.

This ball was given to me by a bowler who downsized to 14lb equipment. It was practically brand new. Only 5 or 6 games on it.

His span fit my hand so I changed nothing on the ball. Looking at the drilling of the ball I can only estimate that its about 45 x 4.5 x 30. I have similar drills like this on other pieces.

Anyway, out of box at 1000 this ball is an absolute monster! It's very early and wants to stand up immediately on a THS. That being said it is clearly a heavy oil piece and I have no doubts that it will be great on the right condition.

Since it was brand new to me I put some UFO extender polish on it, just to see if I could make it serviceable on a THS. The polish changed the entire demeanor of this ball. Yes! It definitely got further down the lane but because of its inert strength it became a flip monster. This ball will definitely have its place on some sport shots that  I know of, but the THS is not one of them. With polish it became a little uncontrollable.

Still, its nice to know that I have a powerful ball in my arsenal should I see heavy oil in the future, once I've restored the cover back to box condition.

Surprising piece by Columbia. Good job.
