Recieved my Cool NoiZe and have bowled with it a few times:
Not tricks to this layout stacked leverage with a correction hole straight across.

At first on a fresh house shot I realized that this ball hooks early, but even though his thing hooks it continues through the pin deck, no quit is this ball. I did notice after 10 games and breaking down the pair by myself, that this ball loves the carrydown.

It is a great fit between the NoiZe and Loud NoiZe, with the differences very much noticable between the 3 balls.

Next on the USBC national shot I see that if I am to try this ball in Vegas, I am going to have to alter the surface. I go in July and am really looking forward on using this ball during competition. I plan on drilling a second Cool NoiZe and putting a little polish on it for the complete package that this ball will give me.

This ball picks up the roll so much sooner than my Loud NoiZe that the adjustments for this ball will have to be made quickly.

I like what I see Columbia is doing with the combinations in this line, and highly suggest that if you don't have any of the Noize line you shouldn't blame anyone but yourself when you get beat by one.

Great price for a lot of ball

Thank you for reading my review

Thanks to Chad Murphy and his staff for creating another great ball from Columbia300

I've had the ball for about 2+ weeks and have received more comments on how nice the ball looks, both on the lanes and on the ball return. It is really a nice color scheme.

Laid it out with the pin 5 1/4" from my PAP, with a dual angle layout of 55* x 40* (the same as a Loud Noize that I really liked)...ended up looking like this:

http://www.ebaumsworld.com/pictures/view/80639515/

I really did not know what to expect with this ball. I found it fits right in between the Noize and Loud Noize perfectly. The Noize has a stronger cover, so it was able to stay in the oil longer. The Noize ball motion is a strong arc, from the foul line to the pins. What I found with the Cool Noize was that when the Noize started to lose energy as the head oil went away, the Cool Noize would fill its shoes, without having to move my feet. When the lanes were fresher, I was about 3 boards right with my feet and 2 boards right with my target with the Cool Noize compared to the Noize. The Cool Noize got through the fronts 1000x better and had a MUCH more defined POP at the backend. The first thing I noticed was the way the pins went off the deck...all at the same time. Every strike was a no-doubter.
When comparing to a Loud Noize, I saw about 10 more feet of length with the Loud Noize, and stood about 8 boards further to the outside and my target was about 5 boards further right.

All in all, I would say this is by far the best ball in the Noize line. For high rev players who don't like early hook, this will be a great ball for med-heavy oil at the middle of the road price-point. For lower rev players who struggle with early hook buy still want to see the ball curve in the backend, this is the ball for you.

Definitely another winner from Columbia 300.

What can I say. Another great ball from Columbia. They said this ball would fit between the Loud Noize and original Noize. They were dead on.

As with anything new I first received I apply my Favorite drilling, which is pin 4 1/2 from PAP. This ball was cleaner through the front than the Noize, but reved up stronger in the Midlane than the Loud Noize. It also responded off the friction stronger than the other two. This ball is a must in your arsenal!

What to you hear about the other new releases: Full Swing, Freeze, and Bedlam! As soon as they get added to the website I will write my review.. All I got to say is ...WOW!!

Well I broke down and did something i usually don't do which is buy a ball in the middle of the summer, but i am bowling more tournaments this summer so figured i would try this one on a recommendation since it didn't break the bank. MAN am I glad I did. I am in my 30's so i am not as young and powerful as i once was but this ball makes up for it. I would say i am average speed and average revs i am not a pro so i wouldn't know exact numbers but this ball makes some of my other more expensive ones look tame. I never had a resurgence but i am told its that cover but pearlized, no wonder that was such a good ball. My first weekend having it i shot 700 in our state tournament and shot a career best all events score. my average only being 190 so i was pumped. Thanks Columbia300 i will for sure be adding a few more of your new balls in my bag this year.

Had this ball for about a month now and fell in love with it instantly. The Rival was a huge success and this ball with that cover pearlized gives me the great performance the Rival did but a little longer down lane. The first one i drilled with the pin and cg 3 1/2 from axis and this ball has a great predictable hard move to the pocket with lots of entry angle to kick the corners. Shot 723 and 738 first two nights i threw it in league! The other one i drilled with a 4 1/2 by 3 layout and polished it, its extrmely long and smooth for later in a block at a tournament or on wood/guardian lane surfaces its great! Really love this ball and its a perfect fit inbetween the two other NoiZes to complete the line, and an awesome ball for not alot of money!! this could easily be my benchmark ball!

Me and my friend went down to the local pro shop today and I went with a Cool Noize and he went with a Furious. Thank god i got the Cool, it out performed his ball hands down!! For the same price there was no comparison. My ball has great length and backend and hits like a train! We switched balls the next game and he agreed, so next week when he gets paid guess where hes going, he cant stand getting beat, hahaha. After reading the posts I might get a Noize also, guess everyone already knows this is the best deal right now for a ball. Thanks columbia for not wasting my money.

I received my Cool Noize from the great people at Columbia and have put quite a few games on them to get a real good feel for this ball and the coverstock. The first Cool Noize I drilled is more of a "benchmark" type of layout, with a 5" pin-to-PAP and dual angle measurements 50/40. I am more of a power player and also agree that this ball has a similar feel to my rival which I could do no wrong with. The ball has a very predictable reaction on house and sport and not only looks good but does not require much maintenance to the coverstock. My reaction reminds me much of a hybrid-like ball reaction with better length than a solid, but the great strong and continuous motion of the Columbia symetrical cores. Also drilled another Cool Noize at 4" pin-to-PAP with dual angle measurements 50/70 and shined the coverstock for a nice controlled reaction on more wet-dry and blown out patterns. For the looks and the price, Cool Noize is a good way to go. For those looking ahead, its a great fit between the Full Swing and Bedlam, which do not disappoint either. Patience, Columbia fans, July will be here soon enough and so will August!

Post by: Paul836 on June 14, 2009, 02:50:26 AM
I've had the opportunity to throw the Cool Noize on a variety of conditions...THS, USBC pattern, and the Shark.  Three unique patterns, yet similar positive results from the Cool Noize.

My axis is 5 1/8 x 3/8 up.  I would most likely be classified as a tweener and consider myself more rev than speed-dominant.  My Cool Noize came with standard specs of a 2-3” pin and 3 oz top weight.  I drilled this ball with a 5 x 4 drilling, which is nearly identical to how I most recently laid-out a Power Swing.  Thanks to the advice from Chad Murphy, such a layout is quickly becoming one of my favorites!  This drilling placed the pin just under my ring finger and added a hole 1” wide by 3” deep in the thumb quadrant.  The surface of the ball was left OOB which is 2000 abralon sanded.

On the THS, the 2000 abralon surface with the pin down drilling keeps me in control.  Comparing it to the previous releases in the NoiZe line, the Cool Noize is just as clean thru the front part of the lane as the Loud Noize as both balls are pearlized coverstocks.  Yet similar to the original Noize, the Cool Noize revs quickly and therefore reads the midlane very consistently.  What sets it apart from either of the other two is the backend reaction!  In my opinion, the Cool Noize is easily the strongest backend motion of the three balls in the Noize line.  The Cool Noize has the backend shape of the Noize line (hard arc), but is very continuous from the point when it begins to hook until it continues through the pins.  Pin carry is VERY strong.

I have since tested this ball on tournament patterns like the USBC pattern and Shark.  The Cool Noize is not the ball on the fresh...Columbia makes plenty of great products that can give you an earlier roll and controlled arc on fresh back-ends.  Where the Cool Noize shined is when the pattern broke down and stronger surfaces/cores used to start began to stop on the back.  I was actually able to move deeper inside the pattern and swing the ball to the friction.  The effortless push from the pearl cover was expected and very evident...I never felt as if I had to force the ball through the fronts.  But what was surprising was the hard arc and continuation on the back part of the lane.  I was expecting a few shots to shoot past the break and not react but this was not the case.  I did not experience over-reaction (only when the pattern continued to break down and led the ball to read early) but did not experience under-reaction either, the latter of which is often my concern on the longer and higher volume patterns.

The Cool Noize is a very versatile piece.  At 2000 abralon OOB, the Cool Noize is strong enough to get a predictable reaction on higher volume tournament conditions yet dynamic enough to play inside the oil line on a standard house shot.  Thanks to Chad Murphy for his drilling advice and expertise and to Columbia 300 for another great product!

Hey Everyone. I am a 3 yr Columbia300 staff member and have been in the Pro Shop business for 15 yrs. I have a high rev rate and my PAP is 4 3/8 right X 3/8 up. with a TC(track circumference) of 11.5.

The COOL NOIZE is going to be the best mid priced dull ball this year. Your going to get a RESURGENCE reaction with a NOIZE price tag. It doesn't get better than that.

This yr we received 2 COOL NOIZES each.  I drilled both with my fav layout. The pins are 5 in from PAP which places it on the negative with the pins over the middle finger with the CG around the center line slightly on the positive. I left one dull and shined the other with Ebonite factory finish polish.

The one i left dull is my favorite. The hull pearl cover is awesome. It has a very similar reaction to the RESURGENCE. Not quite as strong but pretty close. It allows me to stay in,its very clean through the heads with a nice predictable back end reaction, smooths out when it banks of the dry. Very predictable and mistake forgivable.
The shiny 1 is what i like to switch to when the lanes start to break down and the heads dry up. Even when shined it maintains the predictable ball motion and i find myself playing the same line that i did with the dull.

This is the symmetric ball in Columbia300 this yr(along with the freeze series) since we r moving away from our signature brand and going to ump it this year in the Hi performance line.

I hope everyone is as excited with this years upcoming line as i am.
Thanks for taking the time to read my review. i hope it was helpful and remember

I threw this ball today on the usbc pattern practicing with some friends, I have one drilled 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 from axis at 4000 abralon with a low hole and the other 4 1/2 by 3 polished no hole. I went 140 over for 4 games throwing the polished one up the lane around 5 not giving away the pocket, i was amazed how this ball was crushing, reminded me of my rival alot, same versatility with a little more length and pop, then when that started drying out i used the one drilled stronger and at 4000 abralon and banked it off my track about 5 further right! I was amazed this ball could handle it like it did!!I know i reviewed it earlier but still had to share my experiance today

I drilled my cool noize today with the pin 3 3/4x60x30 with a 29/32 weight hole in the p2 position and sanded the surface to 2000 abralon.I was really amazed on wow strong this ball is for mid-priced ball.Cool noize really reads the midlane and has very good continuation.I threw it on the usbc open pattern it allowed me to play pretty square(12-8) and still had a nice controlled ball reaction. This ball really goes through the pins really nice.Once the track opens up you can move in and it really responds off the track. This is great ball for the money.

My friend and I went to buy new balls last week, he bought this ball and I got different ball, he already posted his review and showed me this site.(wish i would have been here before i bought the other ball, lol) but anyways after we bought them last week we went out and bowled and mine sucked compared to his so yesterday i went and got a Cool Noize. This ball is the right amount of snap with the power to control a little heavier oil condition. The pro shop drilled it with my pin above my fingers, with a weight hole really about all i know to describe it but all i really need to tell you is its awesome! i saw more expensive balls on the shelf but man they cant be much better in my opinion. Now when me and my friend go bowling he doesnt have the advantage because of the ball because i have one too, lol

Maybe the most versatile Columbia 300 ball aside from the Momentum Swing and/or original Rival. I drilled this piece with 4” PIN x 3 3/8” CG from PAP and an extra hole approximately 2” below PAP. The surface was not altered. I prefer to use this ball on the fresh because of it’s arc motion toward the pocket and it’s readability. The ball is extremely explosive through the pins more so than the previously mentioned mid lane equipment (Momentum Swing/Rival). I’m able to use the Cool Noize on a wide range of patterns from Cheetah to Shark and consistently score from almost any angle. A great addition to the Columbia 300 line.

I drilled a Cool Noize just before I bowl Nationals last month. The only person happier with how that ball rolled was my wife, who went to the Coach outlet store and did some damage there from the bracket winnings.

The Cool Noize is by far the best of the Noize line. To keep it simple I put the pin above my ring finger and stacked my CG .75" right on my mid-line. The ball had maybe 10 games on it before Team Event so it had shined up just a little from the original box finish. With out repeating the typical rhetoric of "It went long and clean with strong back end", I started out in team playing 12-8 and finished up playing 25-10. In singles and doubles they lanes played exactly like you would hope after bowling behind another team. I started out at 20-10 and ended up somewhere just over the corner of the left gutter cap and could get the ball back from around 5 @ 45'. This should show just how versatile this ball really is. I understand that score are higher this year than in years past but maybe that is because more balls are coming out of Kentucky.

I would like to think Chad and his staff for making the most versatile ball at Columbia

I drilled mine with the pin and cg in my palm to even out some roll, a new layout for me. This ball reminds me of the Momentum Swings little brother in by a close reaction just a little less. It fits in for me when the lanes get some over under I can bring it out and know the reaction I will get. Great ball for those looking for a lot of ball movement but has a budget.

Columbia nailed this one perfectly - it fits right between the Loud NoiZe and the original NoiZe.  It reads the midlane earlier than the Loud and later than the original with a hard arc on the backend.  It is also very versatile as to where you can play with it on the lane.  It does not over-react off the dry playing out or squirt in the oil as you move in, but still recovers nicely.  The characteristics of this ball create area for the bowler and covers up any release mistakes one might make.  What really impressed me with this ball was the continuation through the pins and the pin carry with this ball.  This ball strikes a lot!

This ball will be the first ball out of my bag.

This is so smooth!! I shot my first PBA 300 with the cool noize! 225 aver on the Chameleon pattern. Cool #1 is 5 inches over ringer box finish. Works great on league pattens as well PBA patterns. Cool#2 is 5 1/2 up CG 4 7/8 from ap deep inside angles. I use these balls alot on the Kegel patterns on local tourns. The Noize line follows each other well, the cool noize gives me both balls in one!Lamont Greene C300 Regional Staffer

I just got this ball last week and let me tell you< this ball has some sharp hook. I bowl in two differetn houses and both usaully kill me when they put down fresh, medium to heavy oil down. The first house I used it in, it had lots of potential in it.But when i was using it, i didnt hit my mark but when i did, it packed a punch.. I'm about a stroker with a maybe 300-350 rev rate and I dont know my speed but this ball is the best

Honestly, what more needs to be said than what dc200s (probably John Jowdy in disguise) covered? This ball rocks if you hit your mark. And it hooks. Good ball, I recommend it if you can hit your mark. Otherwise, this ball's not for you.

Columbia 300 Cool Noize

Pin/CG Distance:  1.5-2”
Layout:  Pin in ring finger, CG kicked slightly towards palm
Surface:  2000 abralon
Reaction:  Mid Lane read with arcing backend reaction

The Cool Noize utilizes a pearl version of the coverstock that was used on the Rival, which was one of my favorite balls of the past couple of years.  One of the weaknesses of the Rival was that it wanted to read the front part of the lane a little too much.  By adding a pearl additive to this coverstock and using the TI-BOSS core which is a little higher RG than the original Rival.  The Cool Noize is a ball best used for playing straighter angles unless the back part of the lane is really hooking.  I’ve used the Cool Noize on league shots when I’m trying to stay a little further right and control the breakpoint.  This ball is very usable on the shorter PBA patterns (Cheetah and Viper) as well.

The Cool Noize struggles from inside angles unless the backends are really booming.  This is partly due to the layout and the shorter pin distance.  The Cool Noize does a very fine job of controlling over/under ball reaction on wet/dry conditions, if this ball.  As a matter of fact, if this ball can control the over/under, it’s time for urethane or plastic.

The term “straighter is greater” definitely applies to this Cool Noize.  The Cool Noize will destroy any oil pattern with friction on the gutter because of the mid lane read and continuous backend.    If there’s a shot on the gutter, this is the ball that will come out of my bag first.   This ball struggles with inside angles unless there’s a significant amount of friction in the back part of the lane.   I was looking for a replacement ball for my Rival when it cracked last year and I definitely found it with the Cool Noize.

Drilled up a 15 lb Cool Noize with a 2.5 inch pin. It had just over 2 oz of top weight before drilling. I'm A no thumber. One drill I like is to put cg between the fingers with the pin just right (right handed) of the fingers. I have the finger holes drilled deep to get below 1 oz of top weight with 0 finger or side wt. That is how I drilled the CN. I usually get a very even reaction out of this drill. The CN is nice and even, and I like the nice late reving core. The cover is a little strong for the oil volumes I see. Even polished I have trouble getting the ball to slide out to the breakpoint. I have to play really deep to get the ball to the pocket. This is not my comfort zone. Even from deep inside the carry is above average. The cover just is a tad too strong for the ball to be of everyday use.
In conclusion, the CN is a good pearl ball for lower rev rates or higher ball speeds. I feel that the cover is a bit strong for a rev dominant player like myself. I probably would have been better off with a Loud Noize.
