Title: Full Swing
Post by: admin on December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM
- Color: Black All colors do vary somewhat from the picture shown.
- Core: Mass Bias Full Swing Asymmetric
- Veneer: Full Tilt 5.0
- Surface: 4000 grit Abralon
- RG: 2.51
- Diff: .056
- MB: .016
- Recommended Lane Condition: Medium to Heavy Oil
- Description: The latest and greatest from Columbia 300. This ball is the first of its kind for Columbia 300 featuring our first mass bias core in the high performance category. The core, combined with our Full Tilt 5.0 shell will give every bowler an advantage on today’s lane conditions. This ball comes with another break from our past featuring the strongest core Columbia 300 has ever produced in the HP category. The core contains a modest .016 mass bias measurement that boasts a very strong .056 differential. The core alone will give consumers a breath of fresh air with all the help in terms of hook down lane but we are not done. Pair up that strong core with our new Full Tilt 5.0 cover and you have an amazing combination of hook for medium to heavy patterns. This ball is going to blend out the entire lane for everyone and people all of the world will be taking a Full Swing at any record that is left in the book. Not to mention they will be BOWLING THE WORLD OVER!

4 x 4 with a 2 inch pin buffer

That is what I decided on this ball

This ball clears the heads really easy, and it is very readable throughout the shot, it wants to hook and it does.

I first tried this ball on a typical 40 ft house pattern and the recovery off the missed shots right were very enjoyable to watch, 10 games later I asked the center put out the USBC shot and I was very impressed with the ability that this ball gave me to open up the lane. I was even able to play the gutter with this ball with consistency. When I say gutter, I mean 2-3 board, leaked a couple to the 1 board and it still came charging home

I was thinking that the Cool NoiZe was going to be the hook ball this year, but man was I wrong.

I am really convinced that this ball will be on alot of ball returns this year, in the past there have been alot of people afraid to try some of the new Columbia equipment but don't be. They have made some great balls in the past and this is no exception.

The potential that this ball possesses is more than mere words can explain.

Thanks to Chad Murphy and his entire staff for another great ball from Columbia 300

I highly recommend this ball, and DON"T STOP THERE the Bedlam and Freeze are exceptional as well

Thank you for reading my review

Hey Everyone. I am a 3 yr Columbia300 staff member and have been in the Pro Shop business for 15 yrs. I have a high rev rate and my PAP is 4 3/8 right X 3/8 up. with a TC(track circumference) of 11.5. I drilled my FULL SWING 5.5 in from pap which places the pin over my middle finger with the MB kick about 1 in right of thumb.

THIS IS IT! The ball all you Columbia300 fans have been waiting for. Columbia has arrived for the 09/10 season in FULL SWING.  We have been using what we call Brand Signatures here at Ebonite International the last couple years in an attempt to maintain separation from our brother and sister brands.  I am happy to say with the new balls we have completed strayed from that strategy.  We’ve made some great balls the last couple years including the Resurgence, Momentum and Momentum Swing.  This year we are adding some serious angularity to the line starting with the release of the FULL SWING. This the ball that has been missing in our line up that every one was asking for. Columbia300's first of its kind  Mass Bias core. You wanted flip, you got it.

Very clean through the heads thanks to the 4000 finish and when it gets down the lane, LOOK OUT. flip flip and more flip. When you're looking for more flip on heavier oil condition this is the ball for you. My usual league shot is a 47 ft pattern where my RESURGENCE was my A ball but i had to slow down dramatically to the movement i was looking for, but with the full swing i can keep my speed up and worry if i'm gonna miss right. i brought it down to 2000 due to the heavy heavy oil conditions in the house where my shop is. but on the regular shorter house shout 43 ft lol 4000 was perfect. It holds the tug and comes back from anywhere (even the 1 splinter)with continuous back end and very strong through the pin deck.

Don't blink cause you'll miss the messengers.

A strokers dream ball

Have fun hooking and remember

Drilled my Full Swing (dual-angle) 40/40/4 1/2 Pin-to-PAP which is nearly the same layout I have on one of my Power Swings.
As much as I loved the Power Swing as I ended up drilling 4 of them, I have replaced a few of them with the release of the Full Swing. The difference between the symetrical and mass bias asymetrical is stunning. The Full Swing goes longer than my Power Swing and is much more angular as a result, but still gets back to the same spot. My test results on house as well as Shark pattern were impressive, even when I altered the surface and took my Full Swing down to 1000 dull. This is a great ball to start an arsenal with as your go-to ball out of the bag with the hook you need on fresh and carry-down patterns. What I was most satisfied with was the ability of the Full Swing to maintain a consistent breakpoint once the patterns started to dry up. The Power Swing at times has the tendency to want to jump at the first signs of friction where the Full Swing maintains its length and continuation from all angles. Try it and you won't be disappointed

All I can say is WOW, where has this ball been all of my life!!! This is hands down the best high performance c300 ball I have ever had, and I have had a few and some i realllllly liked. The carry this ball provides is stunning and the move off the break point is sick, and what amazes me is how consistant it is, even though it moves a lot of the spot its so controllable. Complimented with the Bedlam thats cleaner and even more angular, the whole line is amazing this year. I drilled my Full Swings one with a 30x30 with a 3 inch pin and a double thumb hole and the other 45x45 with a 4 inch pin no hole and went and threw it on the THS that had a ton of carrydown from the weekend, the ball made it look like a fresh house shot with its backend, then on league night shot 760 after i won a sweeper on Sunday on the highway to hell pattern with the same ball, on it i had incredible backend and since it was readable and consistant it was unfair to the rest of the field, ball has already started putting money in the bank. If you only buy one hp ball this year I am telling you this has to be it!!!!

I've had the chance to fully test the Full Swing on a variety of conditions...for starters, the reaction and roll characteristics of this ball (as well the rest of the new lineup) are unlike anything I've seen from Columbia in the last three years. The new arsenal for 2009 is fantastic and I would recommend all the new releases to anyone.

I drilled my Full Swing with a 5x4 layout, placing the pin above the ring finger and the mass bias about 1" to the right of the thubm. The surface was left OOB, which is 4000 abralon.

The Full Swing shares the same "family" name as the Mo Swing and Power Swing, but the new cover and asymmetric core really set it apart. At 4000, the Full Swing is stronger than both its predecessors with boards more overall hook. Where it is dynamcially different is on the back part of the lane. On higher volume tournament conditions, I'm actually able to give the pocket away with confidence that the ball will not skid past the break. On THS conditions, this ball has excelled for me as the pattern breaks down and I begin to see carrydown (backend reaction is almost too much on the fresh!). The Full Swing allows me to move inside of the transition and give it away...energy retention and hitting power is fantastic.

Positioned in the High Performance category I expected a large amount of overall hook from the Full Swing. It does not disappoint in that regard, but as both Chad and Eddie have mentioned above, the Full Swing has surprising length/lope in the fronts which adds to its versatility.

Thanks to Columbia for another great high performance release!

Drilled mine 5 x 5(MB), pin almost under my bridge.  Man this is a great ball all around ball for me.  Gives me that good midlane read like most of the Columbia balls do, but then has some extra kick in the backend.  No lack of hitting power with this one guys!  Would be a great addition to your arsenal bowlers!

I don't feel that any ball ever deserves a perfect "10" rating, but this ball is amazing.

I loved the Power Swing, so I was excited to drill this black beauty up.  My first one is drilled 70 x 5 1/2" x 70.  This is the ball I used when the scoring pace is high.  With this layout, I get a clean read through the front part of the lane, a strong roll in the midlane, and an aggressive, ANGULAR move on the backend.  For the first time in a long time, you can actually see the ball going through the different stages of a ball's roll, from skid to hook to roll (my thumb slug locks up on the side of the ball when it gets ready to make that sharp turn!).  For me, this ball was about 6-8 boards stronger than a Power Swing.  It started to read the lane about 5-10 feet earlier, and had a stronger move down the lane.

For those consumers looking to replace their favorite black ball with red letters, get a Full Swing.  It is awesome.  This ball will fit any bowler's style, and will be able to be used on a wide array of different patterns.

A different look from Columbia! This ball is more angular at the break point than previous Columbia releases. I have drilled two of them so far. One with my favorite drill 4 x 4 and the other one 5 x 3.5. The stronger one did exactly what I hope it would. Read the midlane very good and when it exited the oil pattern....WOW! It seemed like I could not throw this ball past the break point if I tried. When compared to the resurgence, it read the lane a few feet later but stored more pop at the breakpoint. For those of you that are looking for something as strong as your resurgence but with more bang down the lane, this is it. Don't be afraid to try different surface finishes! This ball is extremely easy to tune.

Thanks to Chad at Columbia for a great ball!

Only one thing to say WOW. This ball is a true winner in my book. For me to see this kind of motion in a columbia ball is something that i haven't seen in years. But and there is always a BUT Chad Murphy has given everyone what they want, a ball that reads the front and makes a great move in the back.

Mine is 60 x 40 x 4 inch pin.
This ball clears the front with ease reads the mids and then Flip. Once again saying that this is something new for the new columbia 300. I can in deeper with this ball then the power swing i have drilled the same way but the new full tilt 5.0 cover gets it around the turn. The new core design with an Asymmetric that right u heard me is going to be a winner for the 09 season. The new line for the company looks very good and really offset each other with different reactions for every ball. So if you are looking for a great ball please try this i bet you will just love it.

I have had my Full Swing for about a month now.  I have used it on a variety of patterns and am very excited about this ball and where the brand is going.  I've been on staff about about six months.  I was satisfied with the equipment and bowled really well, but was just missing a few reactions.  When I talked to anyone within the company I always said that I missed the strong asymmetrical reaction the most.  Not anymore.  The only ball I can compare this shape to is the original black widow, only about five boards stronger.  The overall ball reaction is a very strong hard arc.  Its got predictable along with pop at the pocket. The Full Swing will usually be the first ball out of my bag and I can keep it in my hands much longer than a Resurgence.  As I move in with the Full Swing I just get more and more around it and it and it keeps coming.  I look forward to doing some more layouts and will report back with the results.

Overall: Strong, continuous, versatile.  If you throw Columbia your going to enjoy this one, If you don't pay attention to the guys that do you'll soon want one.

WOW WOW WOW WOW, this ball is an absolute monster. The Full Swing was drilled 5”pin x4" CG from PAP. No extra hole and surface has not been altered. The first pattern I used the ball on was non stripped fresh house pattern. THe FUll swing had incredible recovery in the last 15 feet despite the dirty backends from open bowlers using plastic house balls. I then used the ball in my PBAX league on the Scorpion pattern. I was able to step 6 or 7 boards left of any other Columbia piece in my arsenal.

What is most intriguing about this ball is it's ability to scoot through the front yet still recover with a very hard arcing/angular motion. I would describe it's motion to be similar to the original Black Widow yet stronger and just as controllable. Previous Swing's such as Momentum Swing and Power Swing rollup much sooner and lose energy on medium patterns where as the Full Swing retains it's energy and explodes through the pins.

Columbia 300 has certainly stepped up this summer with an incredible array of explosive equipment which compliments their mid lane rolling stars.

The Full Swing should be in every serious bowler's bag...

Posted a little while ago about my ball and how much I liked it.  It is definately one of the first balls out of my bag still is.

Anyway, I just drilled 2 Full Swings up for Cassidy Schaub, 2-handed lefty, exempt PBA member for upcoming season.  I wish you could have seen his facial reaction to this ball after he threw it.  His comment was "I have never had an Asymetrical ball read the lane like this!"  I watched Cassidy split the 8-9 pins over and over and over again.  Almost like it was a magnet to the pocket.  It definately has that Columbia300 reaction in the mid-lane but also has that angular continuous motion in the backend as well.  This is a great all around ball for anyone.  This gives you just another reason to drill your Columbia300 ball.

Let me start by saying that the Momentum is my favorite Columbia ball but sometimes I wish it was a little stronger. The Momentum Swing was strong but I still wanted more. With the POWER SWING I now have the really strong I was looking for.

I have mine drilled with the pin under my middle finger and the MB 1.5" right of my thumb. This is my favorite layout because of the length and strong control it gives me. However this ball never slowed down once it came off of the break point. I have found the look I have been wanting. Thank you Columbia

I just punched one of these out...most impressive Columbia ever. Very clean through the front and then watch out..this ball returns from anywhere even for a lower rev player. It was a little too long at 4000 abralon but just perfect at 2000 with polish...This has got to be an early frontrunner for ball of the year!!! Thanks Columbia.

Revrate 325 - 360
speed 15 - 17 mph
axis 4 3/4 x 1/2 up
ball drilled 4 1/2 by 3 1/2 small hole straight across mb 50 degrees
First off let me say that I was skeptical about Columbia's new promises of having a ball that is long and strong but gives alot of overall hook. BUT they nailed it in this ball. It is 4 - 6 more boards stronger then my Rogue and much cleaner and stronger on the back. The numbers are similar between the two balls and I knew the cover would be the determining factor and it is. This new cover columbia has is amazing, even though it is clean it still picks up the midlane strong so the ball is not to squirty and not to early, its just right. The new weight block really stores the energy well and also releases it at the perfect time. This ball is very versatile and extremely strong.

ON A TYPICAL HOUSE SHOT
I could play straighter or get in and hook it due to the cover allowing the ball to get down the lane. If you take a little hand out of it you can really manipulate your reaction through the fronts and down lane. This ball is great on the house shot, i threw 7 games with it today on a fresh pattern and just keep moving in and following the breakdown and it was great for 6 games, then i moved back right and took hand out of it and threw it harder and it still got down the lane and popped!!

ON CHAMELEON

I threw it yesterday when i had it drilled on chameleon and it was the same story. I could use this ball and just chased it in and then move back right and firm up on the speed and still make it work.

ON SHARK

This is where this ball really performed well. I could stand 20 or so to start and keep it inbetween 15 and 11 at the arrows and it was perfect, I could vary my speed a mile to a mile and a half and still it would make it back. When the carrydown started to transition and i could move in it had amazing power with the carrydown and actually i feel the ball excelled here because it created alot of tug and miss right.

All in all if i could sum this ball up in two words it would be STRONG and VERSATILE, two things everyone needs. This ball would be awesome in just about anyones hands due to the versatility and core/cover combo might be the best I have ever had.

Thanks for reading my e-view

Okay I’ve have my FULL Swing for a few month now and its is the first ball out of the bag. Even with the 4000 abralon finish the ball is still very angular off the breakpoint.  This being my first time trowing a Columbia 300 ball with a mss bias I was very impressed with the continuation.
I drilled my Full Swing 60x40x5 with a 5 inch pin. The ball clears through the fronts reads the mids and makes a strong angular motion on the backends. I drilled my Power swing the same way. With the full swing it allowed me to move 5- 8 boards further inside than the power swing. With the new 5.0 tilt cover stock this will be a first ball out the bag for any medium to oil shot.  Even with a little polish it increased the lenth on  the ball and added more backend. If you don’t have one in your bag u would want to try it, it fits into any arsenal as a medium to oil ball. Also don’t be afraid to play with the coverstosk.

I have had the ball for about a month and a half WOW what a absolute monster this ball is. One of the strongest balls i have ever put in my hand. I drilled mine 5X4 placing the pin above the ring finger. It reads the front of the  lane awesome. Great compliment to the power swing. I was able to get 6-7 left of the power swing and stillvery very angular. could throw it really hard and watch it turn the corner and spilt the 8 and 9. This is the first ball out of the ball. And just keep moving left! One of the best Columbia 300 balls i have ever thrown. What a great 1-2 push we will have this year full swing and power swing. If you havent drilled one up yet what are you waiting for? The only thing your losing is strikes from your game! You wont be sorry.

I HAVE GOTTEN THIS REACTION ON A FRESH THS IN LEAGUE AND BOWLED A 1 BALL TOURNEY THS WITH LOTS OF CARRY DOWN THIS WEEKEND. THIS BALL STILL HOOKED AND FINISHED. . I just drilled this ball.  I did a 5 1/4" pin to PAP in a 45 degree layout with a 4 inch pin buffer, and a P3 weight hole.  This ball is a lot like my Momentum Swing only better.  After the success I had with the Momentum Swing I cant wait to get to use this ball more.  It gets down the lane easy and still gets over.  I was bowling on out ladies league shot which I believe is 38'.  I had to play deeper because of the lesser volume.  This ball had no problem with carry even from inside.  I hope to drill some more Columbia this year after the success of last year with the Momentum Swing and Perfect Rival I can only see better results this season.  I also cant wait to get on some more volume to square up with this ball.  Its going to be a strike monster I cant wait.

Drilled mine with the pin down and the mass on the Axis. Wanted to smooth out the ball reaction so I can play up the lane and I didn't want the ball to jump off the break point. I have used the ball on 3 of the Named PBA patterns with great results on all of them. I have drilled a couple for my customers and they all really enjoy the ball motion. This ball is gonna be one of those that is does not matter how you throw it you will like it.

WOW is the first thing that comes to mind.  The ease that this ball clears the heads, then reads the midlane, and then pops on the backend.  Truly an amazing ball.  I have two drilled up differently and get completely different looks from them.  Usually a strong ball is only good for so long as the shot breaks down, and then once you chase the shot in the ball burns up and hits flat.  Not this one!  I bowled on a 42 foot pattern where the heads went away fast.  I started playing just inside of second arrow and, as the lanes broke down, I continued to use the same ball ending up playing around 25.  This ball gets down the lane without squirting and still recovers.

Columbia has a winner with this one.

Ball of the year in my mind, have drilled a few for myself already and love this ball. Drilled them up with a 40\4 1/2 \ 40 and just love the way this reads the mid lane, enters the hook zone at the right time and exits with a perfect angle to the pocket. On most house patterns this ball gives me 12+ boards of swing and a breakpoint the size of a basketball.

Keep it in mind that I called this one first for Ball of the Year!

Review:
When i tested the Full Swing on a demo i was truly impress because it resembled two balls put together. Those two are a Hammer Sting and the Original Black Widow. The reason i say that is because the Full Swing has a the strong mid lane roll of the Sting and the backend of the Original Black Widow. I even talked with rep hosting the Demo Day and he believes the Full Swing should of had a Hammer Label.
I chose two of my favorite layouts that i like to use because i wanted both balls to compensate for each other. When one is rolling too early then you can switch to the other. Good example would be our league shot. 40ft house shot, oiled 8 to 8, 5 to 8 a little lighter, 5 and out is ob depending on your speed. The last two weeks i've ben using my pin down full swing with some surface and it blends out the wet/dry pattern very well. You see the early roll with the strong continuous arc. The way the ball hits is just unreal. I like using pin down equipment when there is a good amount of oil up front. When you are getting over and under reaction, pin down layouts are great to use. This past week in league in practice i saw the lanes were a touch drier. I had good looks with both, but the pin up full swing with polish just seemed better. I was able to get in and bump the dry out down lane which worked for almost two games. Last game the heads went away and the best look was standing left and lofting the ball over the arrows going right and i was able to still have the ball recover and carry.

I like to thank Chad Murphy at Columbia for all his help and advice.

Hi – Last Sunday I picked up two “Columbia Full Swings!”  I spent the last several weeks reviewing blogs at BallReviews.com, articles in “Bowling This Month,” discussions with fellow players, and discussions with my ProShop Driller, and indirectly my professional coach.  These two guys are crucial in maintaining the integrity and breadth of my arsenal.  The analysis got down to several choices: Bounty Hunter, JigSaw, Rogue Cell, and the Full Swing.  I was looking for a more aggressive piece.  Also, I was looking at replacing my two Special Agents.  So, the deal is done!  Final decision rested with the recommendation from my ProShop Driller.  So, we will have to see how things go!

I went to the Columbia WEB site and reviewed the recommended drill patterns.  In discussions with my ProShop Driller we settled upon Pattern Drilling #1, Skid/Flip Layout with Medium Track and Pattern Drilling #3, Strong Layout with Medium Track.  See Columbia WEB site @    http://columbia300.com/products/detail_balls/full_swing

I have only a few frames greater than one game on the strong layout.  During the warm up minutes I decided that the 4000 OTB Abalon finish was to smooth.  I hand buffed it with a 2000 pad.  With this change, the ball did start to respond and tracked the pocket well with strong pin movement.  It blew out of the lane track during early game 2.  Never went to the Skid/Flip but opted for a pin over the fingers Virtual Gravity.

I will update this posting after I get a few sets on these pieces!

Wow! What an awesome ball the Full Swing is! This is my first C300 ball since the momentum...and i love it! Drilled pin below fingers 5 by 3 by 4...put a hole 2 inches down on the val. This ball revs up and has a very strong arc which is exactly what i was hoping to see out of this ball. I just can't stop using it...I will definitely be adding more C300 balls to my arsenal...Thanks for a great ball Columbia!

This is one of favorite balls of all time.  I used a 90º layout with a 5-1/2" pin to axis..equivalates to pin under the bridge, and mb about an inch left of the centerline.  with this layout, the ball does not flare hardly at all in the heads, gradually increases as it finds friction, and rolls super smooth off the spot. It's like you got it on a string, still hooks a ton, and almost completely eliminates over/under.  I drilled three of these balls the same way since it was released, love it that much.

Columbia 300 Full Swing

Pin/CG Distance – 2.5-3”
Layout – Pin over Ring Finger, MB @ 50 degrees
Surface – 1000 abralon w/ polish
Reaction –  Late mid lane read with hard arcing backend reaction

Comments:

Compared to a Virtual Gravity with a similar drill and surface, the Full Swing read the lane a little later with a sharper backend reaction.   I decided to take the surface down to 1000 and polish it in order to widen the gap between these balls.   I’ve had success with this ball from both inside and outside angles on league shots as well as sport shots.   This ball works great when there is some oil in the front part of the lane and a friction spot down lane to throw to.  If the front part of the lane is a little choppy or on softer lane surfaces (AMF HPLs) it tends to read early and labor in the backend.  This ball doesn’t really like carry down either, but I think that’s a product of the layout and surface choices.

The Full Swing is a ball that needs some oil up front and a friction spot in the back part of the lane to throw to in order to be effective.  I believe that this is mostly due to the layout and surface choices of the ball.  This ball works best on league shots on harder lane surfaces and on medium length sport shots once the lanes have broken down.  The one characteristic that I like best about this ball is how well it controls the mid lane and how angular it is in the backend without being susceptible to over/under ball reaction.

Columbia 300 Full Swing (#2)

Pin/CG Distance – 3.5-4
Surface – 4000 abralon
Layout – Pin Under Bridge, MB @ 45 degrees
Reaction – Strong Mid Lane Read with hard arcing backend

Comments

This is my second Full Swing, so I tried a pin under drill for use on longer patterns (PBA / Sport) and league shots that have some carry down.   When compared to my other Full Swing, this one starts up 5 feet sooner but still has the same hard arcing backend reaction.  In terms of overall hook, this Full Swing was very comparable to my Virtual Gravity.  The key difference is that this Full Swing read the lane a couple of feet sooner and was not quite as aggressive off of the friction.  This Full Swing has been used on league shots and PBA/sport shots playing outside, track and inside angles.  At the moment, this is my “benchmark“ ball in the PBA Experience League on the fresh for pretty much every pattern except Cheetah.

This Full Swing definitely needs some oil in the front part of the lane or it will burn up and hit flat.  That being said, it cleared the front part of the lane much better than I expected it too given the surface and layout.  The Full Swing with this layout handled carry down conditions very well.  On shorter PBA patterns and league shots, I generally have to start in the track area between 2nd and 3rd arrow.  On the medium / longer PBA patterns, I can start from a little further outside.

The Full Swing with this layout is much more aggressive than the other Full Swing I drilled.  This ball is usable on heavier oil league shots or league shots with some carry down, but it really shines on the medium to longer PBA patterns.  I had a good amount of success on the Chameleon, Scorpion and Shark patterns with this Full Swing.   This Full Swing will definitely be in my bag next season for league shots that play tighter and most definitely in the PBA Experience League / Regionals for all patterns except Cheetah.  Too bad I bought this ball after I went to Reno this year, I think I would’ve done a lot better if I would’ve had it.
