Drilled ball to carry to a tournament last week but was interruped before I could put in the finger inserts.  When I returned to complete the job the web between the fingers had cracked.  Talked to another driller at the tournament and he has had three Icon2's to crack in the same manner.

Wow - Mine cracked in the Pro Shop also. And this guy has drilled at least 20 balls for me this year without any other problems. Hey Columbia - whazzup with this?

First, I absolutely love this ball.  It goes extremely long and then turns hard at the backend.  Again, gotta have some oil in the heads for the ball to skid to be really effective.

Secondly, my friend had an Icon(original), drilled up last Saturday.  The driller put the finger grips in and let my friend adjust them.  The driller took the grips out and guess what... there was a crack in the bridge.  It wasn't there when my friend was adjusting the grips.  But when he took the grips out, before glueing them in... the ball cracked.  How's that?

By the way, the bridge was at least 1/4" wide.  Is there any recourse?  The pro shop driller ended up drilling a small hole at the bottom of the finger holes to prevent the crack from going any further into the core...  I guess that's a good cure considering that once you place inserts in the ball, it voids the warranty.

Just wanted to give you guys the drill hole idea in case your pro shop driller didn't do that.

The ICON-2 will compliment your ICON!

Those of you who have the ICON in your bags should go out and get the ICON-2!
This ball adds more over-all hook as compared to the first ICON.

The MUSCLE coverstock is the same on both balls, but the weight block in this new ball comes to us from the old "Columbia Sport" ball.

We have found this to be a great combination for a more powerful ball!

You still need a good amount of lane oil to make this ball work well! and if you need one of those Heavy Oil balls for tournament conditions or Sports Leagues, this ball will work very well!

We are recommending of all of you who own and LIKE the first ICON, to go out and get this one too! You will find this ball will give you more range on more oil!

The icon2 is a great ball.  I bought both the icon2 and the Icon because I wanted a flip and arc combo.  There are times when you need just a little more angle and I thought that the two ball would complement each other.  Somehow I was thinking that the icon2 was the weaker of the two balls so I left the Icon at box and used Black Magic on the icon2.  I saw the Icon die at the hole and I was thinking that I just wasted money.  I took out the icon2 and bam 6 in a row.  I then went home and checked the spec on each ball.  I had the positions in my arsenal reversed.  The icon2 is more ball than the Icon (barely) but just enough to make a difference.  The icon2 allows for that little snap at the end to carry the corner pin when there is a trace of carrydown.  The icon2 is more aggressive on the backend than the Icon because it has a lower particle load than the Icon.  The reactive cover shows through so the backend is bigger.  The ball goes about a foot longer than the Icon but has about 3 boards more and is more angular.  I am left handed and have the icon2 drilled 4 1/2 Stacked.  My PAP is 5 1/8 with 1/8 down.  My speed is 16 - 17 mph and have above average revs.  I am considered a tweener but can stroke or crank if necessary.  I carry a 200+ average in 9 leagues this year.

I was looking for a ball to replace my now dead Rock On.  I was at the ProAm when the PBA was in Vernon Hills, IL a few weeks back and purchased an Icon2 as recommended by former pro (and current house owner) Bill Spigner.  I did not get the opportunity to use it at the ProAm, but I had league later that night.  I practiced 1 game before league started, and felt the ball did not finish the way I wanted it to, so we sanded the cover down to 1000.  I shot 650 with it (195 ave) and have since shot 2 700s and a couple 675+ series with it.  The only downside I found was that the ball does no seem to fight through a lot of carrydown.  Overall, I give it a 9 out of 10.
Hit the pocket and hope for the best

Drilled my icon2 4 1/2 X 4 and left it in box condition to compliment my icon which is drilled 3 3/4 x 5 3/4 dulled to 600.

I have only used the icon2 for 12 games but seems to a winner.  Less hook due to weaker drilling and less surface than icon but a lot different look for me on the lanes.  That is a real plus having two really different looks.  The ball doent have the massive backend i expected but that too also is a plus.  Ball is very controllable and carries good.

Very happy with columbia product as of late - from both of my spirits to both my icons to my practice pulse, all work great.

Greatness

I had a horrible story with my Icon2. It was drilled originally with
the pin under my middle finger, (RHer) with the CG in the middle of the grip. I was so dissapointed it wouldn't hook, I throw around 16.5mph. So to the advice of a pro at my lanes I plugged it & redrilled it took out some side wieght. Wow it hits so hard. It now hooks more than my Game ball. We put the pin 1/2" out of my ring finger and the CG just a little further out than that, hence the side wieght taken out. I have 6 games on the ball and averaged out to a 220. I average a 166. I've since thrown my first 700 series (710) mind you my average is only a 166. and a 613 series. The thing this ball has done for me is restore confidence in my game. I love it and will definitly buy another one just to put it away for later

It's really a good particle ball and as long as your only willing to get 30 games out of it should be good. Not being a particle person this is only my opinion so take it for what's it worth.

Pin is 1\2 an inch rigth of the ring finger, cg kicked out about 1 and 1/2 inches from the palm with a weigth hole 1/2 an inch down from from my pap. I really love this ball. I got it the first week it came out and with proper cleaning it has not lost any reaction at all even after more than 50 games. The ball does what is suppose to. Goes long and snap hard in the backend. This ball is not meant to hook in oil but if you play the right line  you can use it in any condition. The muscle cover seems to hold up really well, but again that is with proper maintenance. Good ball overall, will get another one if this one ever wears out.

Hello im 15 years old and i recently been bowling seriously this year. A friend of my dads happens to be a pro bowler (rikki ward) and he hooked me up with my first fingertip ball (the beast) i liked it but i wanted more hook so i ended up buying the icon 2 when it came out. Now when i first got the ball i loved it. The ball was working perfect. You would put it anywhere on the right side of the head pin and BAM it was a strike. It had alot of backend which i liked. 30 or 40 games come along and i decided to get it reserfaced because it was losing its energy. I dont know anything about researfacing it so i put trust into the pro shop guy. So he researfaced it and i went out on the lanes and it was rolling straighter then the beast.. and my friend noticed it too (he has the original icon) So i dont know if this ball is a short term ball.. or when i got it researfaced it messed it up but my ball is dull now... it was hook on extreamly dry lanes but when theres oil on the lanes the ball carrys like crasy... i dont know if anyone is having the same trouble but it really stinks.. can anyone tell me what condition they put on there icon 2 so that i can tlel the pro shop guy to fix it.. maybe that will help... thanks

I'm 15 years old I was recently throwing the Trauma ER and I went out and bought a new ball so I got the icon2 I love that ball. I am a righter I throw that ball in between the 5 and 10 board and it snaps back. I love it. I have no problems with it. I let my friend throw and he loved and now he got one. I think this is one of the best balls on the market.

I just recently bowled for my school I had the 1st nine and it was crushing the pocket and i was throwing it out 1 and 5 board because it was wood lanes then I bowled on synthetic lanes and playing the 5 and 10 board I had the last 10 in a row I ended up shooting 718. I recommend this ball to people who have a range to throw the ball or who likes the hook.

All i got to say is...Pocket What?  Well what i mean is, this thing destroys the pins.  Pin is up and between middle finger and ring, and the cg is kicked out to the right of my ring finger.  I throw the ball at a decent speed about 16-17 and have good hand in the ball, I usually play around third arrow if now a little left of it. As some of you know if you have read other posts from me which i think is one post i have been throwing the FlipSide Wicked.  I love that ball to death but lately i have had to polish it with 1500 finesse every week or two.  So it starts to die if i dont polish it and clean it up.  But a guy that I know, had this Icon2 drilled out and he didnt like it all that much, it was too much of a condition ball for him. Actually the first time i threw this ball it hooked out of my hand, and i didnt like it.  But today he put it up for sale and i took it off the rack, and threw it a few times.  It was left box finish and i threw it around 3 arrow, trying the same shot with my wicked, and it slid and slid and slid, and then boom.  I started to break evenly and then really reved up and made a left turn.  I tried different lines with it, like straight up second and 5th arrow, and every time i crushed the pocket.  Condition ball?  I think not.  Great ball, slides a lot for the duller coverstock.  Good think i got this ball High School State Finals is tomorrow and Saturday.  Good ole Royal Scot Lanes, good thing they have the same shot as my home house...Lowell Lanes.  I review this ball later on after i put a lot of games on it.
