Bought this ball on a recommendation from a friend for a length ball.  Ball does get long, appears to be highly allergic to oil, but when she makes a move on the back end, watch out.

Drilled a 15#, pin 4" out, 2.5 oz top, ring finger about 0.5 inches under the pin.  Ball makes a nice straight skid-roll thru the heads and mid lane area, then what I'd characterize as very strong roll but not wild flip on the back end.  Carry is strong, particularly on the in between hits. The more I try to set it up straight on the back end, as opposed to sending it wide and letting it scream back the better it likes it.

Nice piece of equipment.  Will comment more after using it at ABCs next week.

got this ball for a more down and in shot. something that i have trouble playing. and man does it help alot. it skids right through the heads and hooks back to the pocket. (i was trying playing the 10-10 shot). i tried to swing it a little but it didn't like that. she wanted to come back but didn't . if you want to play more down and in i say get this ball. i love it. im going to the Jr. Olympic Gold tourney in St. Louis next week on a sport shot. I'll post how it does on that when i get back. so keep on roll'n and bowl'n

15lbs, 3oz TW, 4" pin, drilled stacked leverage with small balance hole.

This is an excellent ball.  Inexpensive and looks nice going down the lane.  The ball skids nicely through the heads and then develops a nice strong roll as it hits the dry area of the lane.  When the ball makes its turn, it really drives through the pocket.  I bought this ball to play on drier lanes and go straighter for a nice down and in shot.  For me, I can play down and in or swing it just a little.  (Ball had about 4" of flare for me.)  But in all fairness, I bought this as an experiment for a specific condition.  After the first game, the lanes just opened up and I probably could've thrown anything and bowled just as well.  200-234-224=658

Final analysis:  Ball does what Columbia says its supposed to; Skid and Flip.  Looks good and as long as you hit the pocket, the ball hits nicely.  Definitely a worthwhile purchase for me.

Got this ball (15LB, 4 inch pin, drilled with pin above ring finger for length) as a ball to take over when my wicked just goes in too much. As stated clearly on their site, this ball is for medium to dry lanes (36-39 feet). Any more oil and it will slide, slide slide. But when the lanes are anything from 39 feet down then this ball is in its heaven. Anyone should be able to find the right slide and hook. If you are having probs with not enough length on medium/ med-dry lanes, then I really recommend this ball. You have to remember that the ball will steer left when it hits dry, so play it a bit out when 36 feet or less of oil.

I would say that this is one of the best value balls for these conditions. I stress again that on anything over 40 feet, it will suffer unless you throw really slowly, or you drill it aggressively. If you do, then you should get a different ball, as this ball is designed to go down... then wham, without the BIG WHAM of the wicked.

I have not been bowling for that long, i started about 3 months ago with a lanehawk plastic ball that i got free from a class. Then i started to get the hook motion down, and decided i needed a new ball.
I had just joined a league at the alleys, and they were offering a discount on either the columbia hyde or jekyll. The dude at the shop who is a pro, said that for beginning bowlers, the hyde is sometimes difficult to control, and i should opt for the jekyll. I got this ball, and instantly fell in love with it. I have a medium to fast speed on my shot, and I get medium revs. This ball has a very smooth, looping hook, and it hits hard through the pocket. It likes to work on dry backends, because it gets a little surge of hook if it is dry. However, if the lane is flooded, then this ball can be hard to hook unless you throw it completely down the side of the lane, which I have never liked as a shot. Now that i am getting a better hook on the ball, I think i will purchase the hyde, as i am ready for the stronger hook.

Got a 15# Jekyll in early January because my Ninja Master and Gunsmoke Cobra were not doing it anymore at the house I bowl league at.  With the conditions they give week to week (flooded past 39 feet) and (dry with patches of oil) this ball should work great on these types of conditions.  Unfortunately it does not work as planned.  With a 2" pin set I thought it would work pretty well.  Only works if its medium oil condition.  When I ordered it, Columbia screwed up and sent one with a 4" pin set.  The guy at the pro shop who I know very well said that the Jekyll would not work well with my approach.  So after waiting another week we finally got the one I wanted, drilled it out and then tried it on the lanes.  Hope you get fresh oil before you use this ball.  Now My Jekyll sees the lanes when I see them use the oiler.  All in all this is a good ball and I would recommend it even if my review says I hate it, but I don't.  Just can't wait til next week when my Hyde shows up.  By the way being left handed does have its advantages.  Only 4 or 5 per league from what I have seen and our side of the lanes doesn't break down as fast.  At least we can get our 7 pin while you righties can't get your 10.

I bowled with my Jekyll for the first time this past weekend on a moderate oil condition. I'm a 185-190 Average bowler and came right out shooting
169-176-200=545. A Respectable series for me... The following day I went to the same house more oily condition(Soaked!) and shot horrible so much that I will not mention the series! I cannot get any backend out of this bowling ball in oily conditions but for dry lane conditions this is the ball. I recommend it mainly to those who need the ball to go long... I'll give the ball this, when I hit the pocket light, those pins mixed like crazy and I wasn't leaving any ten pins with it... Good carrying ball use should be on dry to moderate oily conditions... Sectionals Friday... GO SAINTS!!!

My Top 5 Balls I Own...
1. AMF Nighthawk
2. Columbia Rage
3. Track Mutant                      ~ Spare Ball ~
4. Columbia Jekyll
5. Columbia Hyde

Ok I Now Love This Ball...

Bowled Sectionals With It And Believe Me It Was Soaked... This Ball Was The Only One That Gave Me Backend! I Absolutely Love This Ball When They Give You A Dry Backend... Incredible I Can Swing It Out Anywhere Right Of Second Arrow Or On Second Arrow And It's Incredible When It Hits The Pocket. Last Saturday I Shot 181-203-191=575 And Yesterday I Couldn't Miss The Pocket Leaving Admittingly Alot Of Seven Pins And Missing Them Like Crazy So That Affected Me Alot. Still Shot 171-230=401 For School In My Last School Match Ever! Love This Ball, It's Now Number Two In My Bag Behind The AMF Nighthawk!!! Buy It!!!
