Ricochet Rebound
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
Ball NPS Score: Not Available
You asked for it! You got it! The Ricochet is back ... as great as it was before. It's still a winning formula, a perfect match of coverstock and core. This champ was just too good not to make a rousing return. The Reaction Ricochet was developed to provide maximum backend reaction on most common lane conditions. Its pearlized reactive coverstock was enhanced with an explosive combination of TEC and Holo-Flex particles. Now, add one unbelievable feature that it didn't have then: A lower sales price. The Ricochet Rebound is competitively priced in the center of the performance ball market. Check out this return to glory of a champion.

Ball Specifications
Core Technology: Dense core body. Dense energy flip.

Core Technology Benefits: Concentrates the weight near the center of the core for more roll in oil. Add flare potential to the ball for more hook on the backend of the lane.

I bought this ball from Fran Ahlgren of the new Danville Bowl. This ball is set close to fully agressive with 3 1/2 in pin out. It is placed below the ring finger for an early roll. WOW is the perfect word for this ball. It is the nastiest ball ive ever thrown. I can get this ball to swing as much as my Killer Instinct sanded! I try to throw this ball down and in and it was very smooth. I swing this guy and it comes screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeming back like my K.I. This is one crazy ball and i just love it. My first games with it in league were 134(getting used to reaction),234,214. Only 585 but who cares? I average 192 and in practice shot 226,233,260(719). Everyone should buy this ball. If you want consistent reaction, good length and a ball that hits like a truck you can't go wrong with the Rebound!
UPDATE!  In league on wednesday 5/12/05, I bowled my second highest game ever,287(high is 288) and high league series of 722.

All I have 2 say is WWWWWHHHHHHOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!  I loved my brother old rebound and now I love its 2nd version.  I got that bad boy drilled to go long and strong and I can always find the backend...on any shot.  When I find it with this ball then it is on.  I like it on light oil patterns even though it is aggresive.  When it gets to rolling it sets and waits until about 48 or 50 and then is on 35 - 40 degree path to destruction.  I do leave alot of 9 pins so maybe it is to aggresive.NOT

EXCELLENT BALL_______LETS ALL GET ONE

Lane Conditions: Medium-Heavy Oil
Typical Conditions: House Shot
Type of Lane: All Synthetic
What part of the lane did you play? Third Arrow
Did the ball track out? Normal
Weight of bowling ball: 15
Surface of bowling ball: Scotch Brite
What grit was the surface of the ball? Grey Scotch Brite
Likes: Great move to the pocket. Hits very well.
Dislikes: Very inconsistent with factory polish. Can leave 10 pins with some angles to pocket.

A lot of my bowling buddies have drilled these out with good results, so I decided to try one of my own. Drilled a 15 pounder with about a 3 inch pin. Drilled it pretty much label with the pin just to the right and even with my ring finger and the CG on my grip center shifted about a half inch right. When I first threw it, I expected a bit more reaction, as it made a strong move, but didn't cover a whole lot of boards. Played around with it in league for a couple weeks, but didn't like how inconsistent it was in the backend. Sometimes it would jump early, othertimes it would skate by. Threw it on the Haus machine and hit it with some grey scotch brite pads. That brought the break point in quite a bit, but once it got some oil in the cover, it was perfect. Still makes a strong move, but the break point is earlier and much easier to read, and the ball is much more predictable. A very good ball from Columbia, with a great bang for the buck.

Got this one in with a 1 1/2" pin.  Drilled it up with pin under ring (4 1/4") from PAP and cg shifted 60deg from pin, about 3/4" from midline.  I have used this ball on a variety of conditions. With minor changes in speed and rotation, it has proved to be very versitle.  This ball reigns when there is medium head oil with dryer backends.  I can play anywhere from 20-10 at the break, or 15-5 with faster speed.  A premium ball for medium-heavy oil patterns with dry backends.

wow! after bowling 11 games with this ball today on a fresh oil pattern, i was able to finally find out how this ball was gonna hold up to my hopes of it. and i was able to throw any line with this ball. changed lines every few games if i needed to, but basically stayed in the same area. i knew this ball was strong, but having thrown 11 consecutive games on the same pair, i found out how strong it was. and i was amazed. this is a 15lb ball drilled with a 2.5-3 in. pin above RF, cg placed below and slightly right, with no x hole. when i first got this ball, it was slightly sanded and i didnt like the reaction it gave me. ive never really liked the reaction of any particle pearl ball sanded(i.e. big blue pearl, pure fuel, and ricochet), so i polished it back up, and it was still reading early, but the house was fairly dry at that time. it hooks too much on dry, but get it to oil and its an absolute beast! i loved the consistency of it today, my high game of 266 with the front 9, then softened up on my 10th to leave the big four. low game was 150 something, and i ended up with a 214 ave after 11. great ball, and it will be staying in my arsenal for a long time!

great job columbia!

The only thing i can say is this is the best ball i have had in the last 20 years.   Between mine, and my dad, we have 5 of them...   I am looking for anyone who has one that they are willing to sell!

Any pro shops have a new one laying around in the box?  I will pay $120.00 plus the cost of shipping if you have one!

I have had this ball for several years and it is still as dependable as it was the first day I bought it.  I've rolled two 270 plus games with it, though I still have yet to throw a 300.  What amazes me is the versatility of this ball.  It was made for medium to dry lanes but I can use it on heavy oil as well(with the right angle of course).  This is truly one of the best balls columbia has ever made.
