Used on Modified house shot. oiled at 9am bowled at 4PM. my layout is 50x6x40. For a ball that is out the box dull this ball really gets down the lane. with this layout this ball has become a benchmark ball. it transitions very smoothly down the lane. The Takedown is very predictable and wont do anything crazy. This ball will definitely help you stay out of trouble when the lanes are a little tricky. for me this ball is very much like the oath but a little bit more pop down-lane.

Ball is drilled pin down below the ring finger with the cg kicked out about a inch and a P3 weight hole. Left the ball OOB to see how the reaction is. Ball clears the heads and starts picking up in the midlane and does not stop. If you liked the Smackdown, but had to put the ball up when the lanes started to dry up a little then you will like this ball to use.
Ball is very readable and will be a great ball to start the night with or switch to after the first game. I will post another review of this ball once I have polished it. This ball is a pearl ball that can be polished very easily.

Drilled 45x4.5x0 (pin in the palm)
Knocked it down to 1000 out of the box, and this ball rolls like a beast.
Considering how dull I have, it really clears the front nicely and doesn't hesitate on the backend. A very controllable even arc out of the back of the pattern and just absolute trucking power through the pins. This ball is a great benchmark ball in any arsenal.
I haven't used the pin in the palm layout in a couple years now - it matches up so well with this core/cover. I plan on punching another one with my standard 5.5 inch pin to pap and polish the surface. I've heard great things from our staffers.

Columbia 300 has created this ball to do exactly as to what is says, help you takedown the competition. This ball shares the Smackdown core
(Medium RG High Differential) but has the Bring-It pearl cover. So essentially this ball has great roll and continuation having surface or shine. However with the shine you may see a little more length depending on the pattern. This ball will be great for league nights, tournaments or even FUN nights out. Likes: This is a ball I have really looked forward to throwing for some time. With as good as the Smack Down is, I was really hoping that the pearl Take Down would compliment it well and I was not disappointed. The Take Down may not be able to handle QUITE as much oil (although they are very close) but this ball does recover a little better than the Smack Down. With identical pin-down drillings I have the Take Down a little cleaner and a little more angular down lane. These balls really play well off of each other. Bowlers who start to see the Smack Down roll out could switch to an identically drilled Take Down, not move at all, and still find the pocket with a lot of success. Hands down this is THE BEST ball in the lineup right now. It has versatility out the wazzoo for multiple types of bowlers.

The Take Down is my new favorite bowling ball! This Columbia 300 Take Down is the perfect complement to my Smack Down and Vow. The Vow without a doubt is one of my favorite balls of all time, I was very excited to see another High Performance Symmetrical Pearl! The Take Down gets into a roll slightly faster, has more recovery, and continuation than the Vow! Compared to the Smack Down it hooks a little later on the lane with a whole lot more hook at the backend. I’ll be taking down pins and the competition for a long time with this ball! #letsbowl

BALL REACTION
I love the controllability of this ball. Great mid-lane read with a very smooth, yet strong move the pocket.
For me this is a bench mark ball. It reads the oil very well and will let you know if you need something stronger or weaker.
If you should encounter some over/under conditions this is a great ball to pull out of the bag for the fact that is doesn't spark off the dry and still rolls well in the oil.
The ball works great on the house shot and excels on the sport patterns.
Polishing this ball will make a little more angular but will do well when the heads start to go away.

Control, Control, Control. Great Motion to the pocket and very predictable.
If you liked the Smack Down and need a ball to go to once the Smack Down stops carrying or is hooking too much the Take Down is that ball.

Description: The Takedown uses the same core that is used in the Smackdown but now has the Bring-It Pearl cover for added length.
Reaction: This ball is cleaner in the front than the Smackdown was OOB. On a THS I actually played 4 left of the Smackdown and had a little more angle off of the friction. When used on Route 66 (45ft) I played further right then I did with my Smackdown due to not as much friction down lane and it handle the volume really well. The thing I like the most is I get a good midlane read with continuous motion in back.
Summary: This is a great compliment to the Smackdown, when the Smackdown starts to read early I can switch to the Takedown and continue to play in my comfort zone. The Takedown is a little longer down the than the Smackdown and gives the same motion that everybody loves in the Smackdown but a little stronger, pick one of these up on 1/7/14.

Drilled mine pin up 5" from PAP and left the box finish. Compared to a like drilled Smackdown, this ball is cleaner through the fronts and more angular downlane. This ball has worked well on all typical house shots that I have bowled on. What is amazing is how little transition effects this ball. Bowled a tournament where I used this ball for 8 games without having to move very much. The pearl cover keeps the ball from reading too soon.
Looking for a benchmark type ball, the Takedown is a very good choice

The Take Down is the pearl version of the Smack Down and it delivers a punch. The hot pink, royal, black color combination is a nice one, and blends together well when going down the lane. My Take Down is drilled just like my Eruption Pro, being 5 inches from my positive axis point, and 2 inches from my VAL with a small hole. This ball really surprised me with how strong it was. The Smack Down is a much smoother rolling type of ball, so I wasn’t expecting the amount of backend flip that I get with the Take Down. This ball goes a little longer than the Smack Down for me, but the difference is in the motion it makes in the back part of the lane. This ball is also much stronger than the Eruption Pro that I copied the layout from. In league play, I’ve noticed a minimal 4-5 board difference between the E-Pro and the Take Down. For me, this is awesome as now I can use the Take Down to start in league and as the breakdown happens, I can go to my trusty E-Pro for the rest of the night. These two balls play well off of each other for me.

I drilled my Take Down with what has become a popular layout for me, pin down 5.5 x 4.5 with a P3 hole. I really like my Smack Down from earlier in the year with this same layout and was looking for a piece to compliment it, and hopefully fit between the Smack Down and my pin up Vow.
Out of the box the Take Down was only about 2/1 weaker than the Smack Down, with a little more length, and a little more pop at the break point. This is pretty much an ideal bench mark type ball reaction that has looked good across a few lane surfaces and patterns. Don’t let the pearl cover fool you, at 3000 grit this ball really reminds me more of a hybrid or even a solid.
I may take the 3000 grit box finish up to a light polish to better fit into my arsenal thought as I think I could get more use out of it due to already having two different Smack Downs in my current line up.
Overall this is a versatile, continuous piece that has looked good on a variety of patterns and surfaces. Pick your layout and adjust the surface accordingly and you won’t be disappointed.

I was extremely excited when I heard about the new Columbia 300 Take Down. The Smack Down brought me much success and I knew that a pearl cover would bring nothing but greatness. Was I ever right! Overall, this is a fantastic ball that easily pushes down lane and offers a lot of hook and continuation for all bowlers. I drilled my Take Down with the pin under the ring finger and the CG kicked out about an inch. I elected to leave the box surface on the ball; with my high speed this layout and surface combination gives me the strength that I want to see while still clearing the front part of the lane. At the break point, I see a very controlled motion with a lot of power. While it is still a more violent direction change than the Smack Down, the core still yields a pretty smooth motion compared to balls like the Crazy Antics. On a house pattern, this will be a good option for early games of league or tournament play. As for sport oil patterns, the Take Down makes a great benchmark ball. I have seen most success on short oil patterns, but it offers a great read on medium and heavy patterns as well. If you are looking for a ball with great strength, continuation, and versatility this is a must have!

The Take Down is a great compliment to the Smack Down. The pearl cover with the same core used in the Smackdown gives this ball more length but that's not a bad thing. I can't play as deep with the Take Down but moving a little right and playing more up the lane with this ball seems to work best for me. I drilled mine pin down about 4.5" from my PAP. This ball def gets down the lane well and has a smooth reaction when it hits the dry. I left the cover untouched out of the box but will most likely give it some shine to give it some added length. When the Smack Down starts to hook too much switching to the Take Down with be a smooth transition. Def a ball to use when the lanes start to break down a bit. Threw this ball (pin at 2" above bridge) at a demo day recently. Loved it!
It is a pearl shell but it felt like a solid with lots of hold and continuation!
I bought one but have not punched it up yet.

TAKE DOWN –
And I thought the Smack Down was versatile. I’m here to tell you that the Take Down is even or exceeds its predecessor in versatility. Because I have found multiple purposes and conditions for my Smack Down, when the Take Down was released I felt this would be a perfect compliment.
Taking that consideration to heart I set up my Take Down identically as my SD… 70 x 5 x 45. As mentioned in the balls overview on Columbia300.com, the Take Down comes with some surface so for my purposes I polished it out of the box using Power House Factory Finish.
All I can say is that I love when a plan comes together. Very smooth and easy to control. Now the Smack and Take Down’s are a regular part of my traveling arsenal. When I need that extra length, the Take Down is right there to fill the gap.
Pros – versatility
Cons – none so far
