HIGH PERFORMANCE BALL
FEATURES:

- Core: Bedlam V.2.0 (asymmetric)
- Veneer: FULL TILT 6.0
- Surface: 500, 500, 500, 4000 Abralon
- Hook Rating: Oil-49 Backend-35
- RG: 16#-2.54, 15#-2.53, 14#-2.49
- Diff: 16#-.052, 15#-.055, 14#-.054
- Reaction: Hook Monster
- Recommended Lane Condition: Heavy Oil
- Description: A new coverstock, a new finish, and a new core make the Total Bedlam the Bedlam’s perfect complement. The asymmetrical Bedlam Version 2.0 core will drive this ball to hook earlier, while the Full Tilt 6.0 coverstock that has been sanded with 500 and then 4000 grit Abralon gives it enough traction to stay on the oiliest lanes for a dramatic move into the pocket.

Drilled my Total Bedlam with a 5 1/2 inch pin from positive axis point. Placed the mass bias at a 60 degree angle. This put the pin below my ring finger. I put a light coat of factory finish on it. Got to use it on a 40' house pattern. It picked up very well in the midlane and had great continuation through the pins. I simply moved 5 left of my Bedlam and shot my high series of 845 with a 300 the first game. The Total Bedlam will be a benchmark ball in a bag for the upcoming regional schedule. Thank you Columbia 300 for all the great equipment!!!!

Putting a Hook Monster in the hands of a slower-speed, rev-dominant player, my first inclination was “Oh My”.  After drilling the Total Bedlam, my first inclination was correct…but “Oh My” better describes the jaw-dropping expression on my face each time I witness this ball’s un-paralleled ball reaction and pin carry.

I drilled my initial Total Bedlam with a 6x4 layout, which places the pin above my middle finger and Mass Bias (MB) 1” to the right of my thumb.  This layout does two things for me: 1) reduces overall flare and 2) helps retain energy given my ball speed.  I left the surface Out of Box (OOB) as I wanted to utilize the advanced coverstock preparation which involves three separate passes of 500 abralon, followed by one pass of 4000 abralon.  I cannot emphasize enough the importance which coverstock preparation has on ball reaction…the research done by the team at Columbia in creating a unique process is an advantage for all who throw this ball.

The best way to describe the performance of the Total Bedlam is as if it is three balls in one!  First off, the ball lopes through the fronts, certainly due in part to the layout but also due to the tall/skinny/asymmetric design of the Bedlam V 2.0 core.  The motion thru the fronts is that of a medium-strong solid, reminiscent of the motion I liked so much from the Rival series.  As the Total Bedlam transitions from skid to hook in the midlane, the ball characteristic changes to a very strong solid.  The consistent, smooth, yet powerful midlane transition reminds me of what I love most about the Full & Pure Swing.  Over-shooting the breakpoint seems impossible with the Total Bedlam.  But the reaction doesn’t stop there.  The move at the breakpoint is all Bedlam  a strong, angular, and extremely continuous motion through the pins.  I emphasize the pin carry, as the Total Bedlam keeps the pins lower through the deck.  Time and time again I see the 6-pin carry out the bigger middle part of the 10-pin, not the smaller neck of the pin or going up-and-over the 10-pin.

This ball has shown its true colors on heavier oiled conditions.  Having bowled a tournament on the newest version of the Shark pattern just this past weekend, this ball opened up the lane from inside 5th arrow.  I’m just upset I wasn’t yet familiar enough with the reaction of the ball to use it earlier or I could have improved on my top 8 finish!

Thanks again to Chad Murphy and his team for an incredible product that pushes the performance of the Columbia brand to yet another level!

The Total Bedlam is definitely the oil ball that it is advertised to be.  The Total Bedlam that I drilled easily outhooks anything in my arsenal by 5 boards, and I actually drilled my first one with the pin above the ring (5" from PAP) with no extra hole to generate some length.  I can't wait to drill another with the pin down to use when the lanes are fresh with long and heavier volumes of oil.

The new Full Tilt 6.0 coverstock is definitely the strongest in the Columbia line, allowing the ball to read the mid lane even when there are heavier volumes of oil on the lane.  This combined with the asymetric core give you a ball that reads the heavy volumes of oil, but still has the built in recovery that most of your "heavy oil" balls don't give you.  Definitely a great addition to the Columbia 300 line.  If you're looking for that heavy oil ball, you've got a winner in the Total Bedlam.

I drilled the Total Bedlam with the pin 4.5 x55 x30 with a weight hole in the p3 position.TB reads the midlane and is very continous off the spot with no quit. This ball is a beast and is the strongest ball in the columbia line and a great addition to the current lineup. It will read the lane quicker than full swing and more off the spot. The one thing i will say is you can move as far left as you want and it never quits.Chad you are starting to form a really nice lineup here.I did change the surface to 2000 abralon and thats when this ball really started to shine.

I drilled my Total Bedlam using the Dual-Angle layout system at 45/40/4" Pin-to-PAP and adjusted the surface to 1000 grit Abralon, with a weight hole near the PSA. Out of box, I had some trouble getting the reaction that I desired. The core of the Bedlam and Total Bedlam creates a great deal of length down the lanes and no shortage of backend. Me, being a high speed, high rev player with a very low track, the Total Bedlam was a little too long for my liking out-of-box. After adjusting the surface I am tremendously happy with the reaction of the Total Bedlam. The new Full Tilt 6.0 coverstock helps create a tremendous amount of track flare and gives this ball an amazingly strong arcing reaction that hits hard on heavier lane conditions. By no means will this ball be one that I use on shorter patterns or when the lanes dry up, but works great when my Power Swing or Full Swing are too long or too angular. I rated the Total Bedlam a 4 because I like the way the ball reads the midlane and gives a strong and continuous backend, however I still like the strength downlane that I get from my Full Swing.

Chad Murphy and the Columbia Team have put together now a 3rd really good release as of late.  Total Bedlam along with the Sharp Noize and Pure Swing as well.

The Total Bedlam has that same mid-lane pick up for me as the some of the Rival lines did, but has that great continuation that bowlers are looking for.  I drilled mine up 5 1/2" pin(puts it above my bridge) with the MB round an 1" from my thumb, and no hole.  This new surface on the coverstocks really make a huge difference in the ball motion that is very evident with the eyes.  Awesome striking power with this ball for sure and a great all around ball for many patterns.  Not hard at all to play out with less hand and very easy to move in and wheel it if need be.  If you like some of the old Columbia characteristics with added power in the backend you need to get one of these from your Proshop ASAP!!

Thank you again for a another great release!

This is an amazing ball. Just switched most of my equipment over to a diff. manufacturer and I added one of these to my arsenal. Pin Up, 5" pin to PAP, MB 70 No Hole. This ball is honestly the hardest hitting I have used. Small sample size, but it does hook alot and I was surprised at how far left/how many boards I could cover with a 'dull' ball and not get any loss of energy, and very good pin carry. I am a tweener, rev rate around 325 and throw 16 mph generally. Pins were flying. I used this ball on only the left lane (was an arrow tighter) in a 2nd shift league and there was NO rollout w this ball. Very happy with the ball, and fun to throw. Must have in the bag for heavier/oil or longer oil. Excited about it, will be drilling another one or two of these Total Bedlams!

Drilled mine with the Number 1 layout. This ball just flat out hooks. For those of you who loved the VG this is WAY better. Used it on a sport shot and it hooked about 6 more boards than my Pure Swing.

All i can say is WOW. I don't know about the different drill patterns so i can only tell you what i do know. I just got this ball and it did not disappoint. I stand with my left foot in line with the gutter and I throw it out to the one two boards, and when it comes back it does with extreme aggression. It carries better then any ball I have ever thrown. I have high ball speed and high rev. rate. It is about 21 mph and 400 rev. I have never had a ball that i have not been able to control until now. Out of the box polish was to much and I could not keep this monster on the right side of the pocket so I had to put a high polish so that it would tame this thing down a bit. Now that and heavy oil makes this ball perfect for my style of bowling. GREAT BALL!!!

The Total Bedlam from Columbia 300 gets through the heads cleanly and when it makes it's impressive turn to the pocket it has unrivaled power through the pins. This is the most powerful ball ever released by Columbia 300 and I believe the hardest hitting ball out there to date. Unike most of the hooking balls, this one allows you to skate through the heads and have all of it's energy saved for the backend of the lane. All I can say is when you see it thrown in a tournament or league, or get to try it out at one of Ebonite's Demo days, your going to want one for yourself

Another Amazing ball from C300.  I used a 4-1/2 pin to PAP, above the fingers, PSA 3" right of the center line.  Surprisingly clean through the front part of the lane, and this bad boy does not hold back.  I really like how the Total Bedlam does not hook early, but reads the pattern better than any other 4000 grit surface ball.  801 out of the box on a typical house shot.. with two missed spares. Coulda, woulda, shoulda been much higher.  Outstanding ball. Can not wait for more.

Me:
Righty
Tweener
Lots of speed
Decent revs and axis tilt
PAP = 5" right from center of grip

House:
ProAnvils
42' THS

Ball:
Total Bedlam
OOB finish
Pin above ring 5" from PAP
CG kicked right 2" from PAP
MB about 1.5" right of thumb in a strong position
X-hole 4" right from the center of grip on the centerline

"Holy Angularity Batman!"  To put it plainly, this ball is absolutely sick on the backend!  I have never thrown anything like it except for maybe my Storm Agent.  It pushes through the heads with ease and is atomic when it hits the dry backend.  It's not over/under at all, just very very stong off of the break.  This ball is way too much for me on our THS but should be money on moderate to heavy carrydown as long as the heads aren't fried.  THis ball is everything Columbia said it would be and a bag of chips.  If there are any rev-challenged folks out there looking for a ball reaction that will make them look like a cranker, this may be your ball.  Oh, and last but certainly not least...This ball hits harder than Iron Mike did in his prime.  Pin action galore!  Happy bowling.

Specs in profile.

Ball:
35* x 4 1/4 x 35*
Polished, box surface, 800 grit, 2000 grit, 1000 grit, and 600 grit.
P2 hole

Well, you can see I've tried this ball at alot of surface finishes. This ball is just....okay for me.  I missed the layout on this one.  I find the TB to be alittle too early or not quite strong enough in the back to carry consistently.  At box finish, there just wasn't enough traction to allow me to play the puddle on our house shot.  If I squared up, it read too early and lacked hit.

That lead me to trying some different surfaces.  At 800 and 1000 Abralon, it was better, but not great.  I didn't much care for it 2000 or polished, that created some overlap in my arsenal.

It currently sits at 600 grit, green scotchbrite, and I used on the Dick Weber pattern in practice friday.  The TB was 3 and 2 deeper than my NSane Levrg, at 1000 abralon, on this pattern.  The right lane got very tight, so I pulled out the TB and played very direct up 12 and never missed.  This has been the only time the ball has shined for me.

Overall, I've drilled 4 of these, 1 for myself, 1 for my wife and 2 for customers.  So far, I'm the only one not 100% satisfied with the ball.  But, like I stated earlier, I missed the layout on this one.  When you drill it, you have nobody to blame but yourself when you don't like it.  I think if I had put something like 60 x 4.5 x 35, I'd find it more usable on a more conditions.

I may hang on to it just for those times when I really want to get straight and control the move on the back.

Columbia 300 Total Bedlam

Pin /CG Distance – 0.5 to 1”
Surface – 2000 abralon
Layout – Pin outside and slightly under ring finger, MB @ 60 degrees
Reaction – Mid Lane Read and Smooth Continuous Backend

Comments:

I purchased this ball shortly after the Total Bedlam’s first released and with the short pin, the drilling options were limited.  So we went with the layout described above and with the OOB surface, I just didn’t like the look it was giving me because the reaction wasn’t very consistent.  So I decided to take the surface down to 2000 to see if I could improve the consistency, which it did.   I was surprised at how well it cleared the front part of the lane with this layout and surface.  I believe that I have the Bedlam 2.0 core to thank for that.  This Total Bedlam will be a very good ball for league shots because of the ability to blend out the wet/dry lane condition.  I think it might work well on the shorter PBA patterns as long as I can get it through the front part of the lane.  This Total Bedlam will shine on any pattern where it can start up around 30-35 feet and just continue through the pin deck.  There is one house in town where there is a pretty extreme wet / dry reaction and the Total Bedlam destroyed it.   I threw my 3rd 300 game and a 748 series in a mixed league with it.

Because of the layout, this is not a good choice for longer patterns where you need to generate angle off of the end of the pattern.  I’ve attempted to use it on a couple of longer patterns in 2 different houses and this Total Bedlam and left a bunch of flat 10s.  In this situation, I have a pin down Full Swing and a pin up Pure Physics that are better choices.    The signal to bag this ball is when you start leaving flat 10s and a move left doesn’t fix it.  I’d like to drill another one that has a longer pin and a longer and stronger layout to see what it can really do.

5 X 8 PIN IN RING/ 1000 ABRALON

Was never too fond of this ball in it's box finish. For whatever reason it just never rolled the way i liked. So i tossed it on the spinner and hit it on all 6 sides with a fresh 1000 pad. Never thought to use it on the ths but there was enough oil in the middle and heads to get it through the front. Surprisingly the ball got to about 40-45 ft and made a really strong arc. I was expecting a more early roll type reaction, but i guess the core helps it get all that length.

Review starts here:

Bowler stats Rev Dominant lefty about 325.  When I'm over 15 at the pins it's all good, when I'm not.....  Heavy side roll between 60 and 70 degrees.  Pap out 5 1/2 up 1/4.

I am glad to have watched video so I could create what I wanted. Our local top hat which has a sharp transition from the side wet to dry.  My sharp backend often creates problems on this pattern when fresh so I'm often looking to tame balls down.

This very attractive ball that I don't believe was a top seller has a lot going for it!  Strong coverstock, lots of midlane and Lots of angular backend.  Knowing this, I reduced everything a little to get what I wanted.

Drilled 50 X 4.25 X 60 dual angle  Or 4.25 X 5 X 3 1/2(pin buffer).  I ended up pin down just to the left corner of my ring and the ball looking stacked.  Abralon 1000, 2000, and 3000 with Reacta Shine polish.

This ball gave me just what a I wanted where once the the shot blends out My 4 inch Pin to Pap  strong mass bias No Mercy Beaten can strike all day from 12 to the 4th arrow always heading at the 7 pin or wider!  This ball due to the weaker adjusted cover and pin down allows me to move back left and play a little straighter and still carry from inside due to the angular and pretty aggressive backend.  Stronger and slightly more angular at the back than my Cell with a similar drilling and weaker pin under ring drilling this ball I could see doing a lot of damage in this house.  When the cell has moved me inside and it's rounded backend(due to drilling) is pinging, I could see bringing this more angular monster out and carrying the rest of the night!

For me it goes No Mercy Beatn, , Icon 2, Total Bedlam then my polished weak pin Cell rated by how deep I play. To play this long oil house pattern for how deep I play.

Funny thing is the Total Bedlam attacks the pocket with a little more attack angle than my symmentric  pin on top of ring Icon2(more surface) even pin down!

For up the backers and 40 degree side rollers put your pin near the ring as far as North South and get all the midlane and angularity you can stand.  For Backend maximizers like my self put your pin down a little to mute the heavy angularity this ball can produce from inside.

For all the power one can stand!:

Leave the surface box, put the mass bias strong and this can be one of the strongest balls in your arsenal in every part of the lane, heads, midlane and in creating angular backend.

A powerhouse, I'm glad I muted it a bit!  Going to be a fantastic long top hat league ball.

By the way it is a hot looking ball that caught a lot of attention and looks great rolling down the lane!

Regards,

Luckylefty
