My Resurgence video
« on: September 19, 2007, 05:57:39 AM »
I shot this yesterday.  The layout is pin under bridge, up 1" from my midline.  It's 5 x 3 with a hole 3.5 down my PAP just inside my VAL.  It is OOB.

Don,
Thanks for posting. I haven't drilled mine up yet, waiting for the tournament season to heat up. But I do have some constructive criticism for you and the other video posters. In watching this, you were crossing between 18-22 at the arrows, correct? If the lanes are only medium oiled that you have to play in there, why would you be throwing this ball? It is designed for heavy oil. If you watch your breakpoint, it appears you had at least 5 boards of play with it to still get a strike, which to me indicates this was a THS pattern. Again this is not just you, but pretty much every video I have seen of the Resurgance. How about a video showing this ball on heavy oil, or a sports pattern, or a PBA pattern, etc? Show what the strength of this ball really is. I realize most of you can't go in and get the shot you want at your local center. But it might be something to ask for, if you plan it on a Sunday morning, get them to double hit a lane or a pair or something, I know I have been able to alter the shot at my center when doing it like that. I think that would be a very useful video for others looking at making a purchase.

Then again, maybe I am looking at it wrong. Maybe this ball is just that strong that you have to play there even in heavy oil. Feel free to bash me if you want but just thought I would add my two cents.

I'm not going to bash you because you didn't say anything negative towards me.  I'll try to answer your questions as best I can.

Yes, it was a slightly broken down THS.  There was absolutely not enough oil to use this particular ball and get the most out of it.  If I were on that condition for a league or tournament it would stay in the bag.  The house I shot it at was one where I no longer bowl league.  The house I do bowl league at has been putting out a longer shot for their THS...my other equipment is "ok" on it, but due to the longer pattern I have been having trouble getting the ball to turn the corner.  I also bowl a PBA experience league in which I believe the Resurgence will be getting a lot of games.

I threw this ball yesterday for 2 reasons.  The first is because it is new and I wanted to see it's characteristics on all kinds of oil.  I know now that it is usable on that particular shot, although not ideal.  The second reason is because that ball was drilled with slightly major pitch changes in the thumb and fingers.  I needed to get used to the feel of it before I bowled when it actually counted.  I'll be the first to admit that I'm not terribly accurate, but in my defense that was the least of my worries.  I worked on other physical parts of my game and I feel pretty good that I'm going to get them corrected soon.  I will add that playing that deep is not a strong suit of mine, so it was nice to be forced in that far.  It was just practice, and I used it for more than just taking a fancy video

If I ever get a chance to shoot one on a condition that it was designed for I most certainly will.  I'm in pretty good with the management of one house and I'm sure I can get him to put out one of the PBA patterns for me to practice on.  Thank you for the feedback; it is appreciated.

I thought your vidoe was great there bud.  You putting yourself out there for all to critize I though it was pretty good for being the first one.  The Resurgence is a very strong ball I traded mine for the awesome finish because didn't think I would ever use it.  The only thing I saw in your video was you hung in the ball a few times but that may be because if your pitch change.  Keep up the good work how's monday nights treating you?

Thanks for the positive comments Rob.  It means a lot to me.  When I get out of it clean, it rolls very nice.  Unfortunately, that's not very often.  The funny thing is that Tom put me in even more reverse for the thumb (1/4 now IIRC), and I have been making a conscious effort to not grab on it, but I'm still hanging about 3 of 4 shots.  He also went to more right in the thumb (I believe I'm at 3/8 under now) because of a pressure point I've had on my nail.  I'm trying to get used to it but you'll probably see me in there soon to make another change.

Mondays have been up and down.  I was good on Chameleon and Scorpion, but died on Cheetah and Shark.  It's frustrating, but the only way I'm going to get better.  I think I can hang with the big boys if I get some confidence.  I still have Wednesdays to stroke my ego

I'm not too surprised that you traded yours.  You've got a straighter game than me with maybe a bit less speed.  If you're only bowling on the THS's around here then it would probably hook in your backswing  Thanks again for the comments...I'll see you soon.
