First chance to throw Arch Rival
« on: June 20, 2008, 07:24:49 PM »
Got a chance to throw the Arch Rival for the first time tonight.  It is drilled with the pin below my fingers and 4 5/8" from my PAP, and the cg in a 45 degree position.

My first impression is that I am very excited to throw this ball more and more.  I am making a bold claim by saying there is NO BALL ON THE MARKET LIKE THIS.  The Arch Rival offers a surprisingly clean path through the heads and makes an unprecedented move on the backend.  With the first line of balls from the "new" Columbia released having more of a rolly, arcing characteristic, it sure looks like the new releases will offer much more profound moves on the backends.  I can't imagine the Columbia brand going anywhere else but to the top.

Comparing it to the other balls in the line, The Arch was about 7 boards stronger than the Rival, about 5 boards stronger than my favorite Momentum, and actually surprisingly comparable to my Resurgence in overall hook, but the Resurgence is much smoother.

If this ball is even a faint sign of things to come, everyone better start saving money for the Momentum Swing.

If this ball is close to the Resurgence, would you need both balls?

From what I've seen there is a good distance from the Arch to the Resurgence.

I finally picked mine up last night and used in my league last night and shot 818 with it. I was very impressed with it. Had games of 258 276 284. I grabbed a few shots in 2nd and 3rd games. I was really pissed at myself but I was still happy with the night. I didnt have my Rival with me to compare last night to see the difference.

Mayhem,  would you say it is stronger than the resurgence or weaker.

Mayhem, nice shooting!
I'd hate to go against you lately, you've been on fire.

Luckily I'm your doubles partner :-)

Overall hook is similar, but Resurgence picks up a little sooner, allowing it to handle more oil.  The Arch Rival pushes a bunch further and turns the corner much, much harder.
