New ball purchase
« on: February 26, 2006, 02:59:16 PM »
I haven't bowled competitively in quite some time. I'm looking to rejoin a league in the fall and was looking into purchasing a ball. My last ball purchase was a Columbia Reaction Rev. I absolutely loved the ball and was looking for something similar in reaction.

Get The One by Ebonite.  The One is ball of the year thus far and works extremely well with surface changes.  You wont be disappointed.

I understand this is a COL300 forum.  The next best thing for COL300 is the Action Packed.  IF you are willing to try something else, go Ebonite with The One.  Cant go wrong with either.

Action Packed....very good choice.  I love mine.  I took off the factory polish, and now it definately matches up with all sorts of different lane conditions.  Wood and Syns.  Check it out.  Of course...if you don't want a C300 ball....The One is a good one as well.  Actually most balls on the market are good.  It just depends on what I shoot scores with to tell you what I like, same thing with other people.

Choose wisely...another crop will be out in like....3 months time.

I might check out The One by Ebonite. I'm weary of trying other ball manufacturers because I've been loyal to Columbia since I began bowling. It seems many of the local bowlers in the area are making that ball purchase. Thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming.

Why not try a used Ebonite "One". This way you won't be out of so much cash and you won't be as disappointed when you don't like the ball........

BE CAREFUL WITH THE ONE.  THERE NOT FOR EVERYONE,  SEEM TO WORK BETTER
FOR BOWLERS WITH HAND AND SPEED,  IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS WE HAVE SEEN AN INCREASE IN BOWLERS WHO HAVE THE ONE AND HAD IT DRILLED ACCORDING TO THAT YELLOW LABEL, BRINGING THEM IN TO BE PLUGGED.   NOW BOWLERS WHO HAD THE ONE DRILLED USING #2 OR #3 LAYOUT SEEM TO BE GETTING ALONG WELL WITH IT. BUT THAT PIN OVER DRILLING ALONG WITH THE HIGH POLISH FINISH CAN CAUSE SOME PROBLEMS FOR SOMEONE WITH LESS HAND,  ESPECIALLY IN SOME OIL,  THO THE ONE POLISHED REALLY IS NOT FOR OIL.  BUT EBONITE DOES CLAIM IT WORKS IN OIL THO.
I'LL SAY ONE THING FOR THE ONE,  IT CERTAINLY INCREASE OUR SALES IN SELLING
THE PADS FOR THE BALL.  WE NOW STOCK ALL THE PADS FROM 500 1000 2000 AND 4000.
WITH 500 AND 1000 BEING THE BIGGEST SELLERS!!!!!!!

If you want a strong solid shell go with an ... Action.

The One will not last more than 50 games before the loss of the 4000 abralon finish and tight factory polish cause the ball to start reading really early, loosing energy in the midlane and rolling out... I have a friend with a decent hand that burned through 3 The One's already..... I personally have seen these balls die fast.  And it not worth the money to have to rejuvinate them every few months.

Get the Action Packed.. YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPPOINTED.

Thank you all. Special thanks to Jeff Mop. I've been Columbia loyal for so long I don't think I'm gonna jump ship just yet. I think I'm gonna go with the action packed. It should give me the reaction I'm looking for and it being similar to the Reaction Rev I should love it.
