Action Packed - Review

Columbia 300 Action Packed Review:

The Action Packed is a great compliment to the highly popular Action. The Action Packed utilizes the same core as the Action but with a pearlized M80 cover-stock. The pearl cover allows the Action Packed to get down the lane much easier then the Action and produce a much stronger change of direction at the break point then the Action. What I liked most about the Action Packed is that it did not have an uncontrollable skid-snap reaction like the PowerDrive. Where the PowerDrive is more condition sensitive the Action Packed was much more readable and useable on a wider range of conditions, from medium/heavy to medium/lighter oil patterns. When the Action begins to hook too early because the head oil starts to disappear, then go to the Action Packed and you will be able to play a similar line and get some more punch at the back-ends. When throwing the Action and Action Packed both in box finish, the Action Packed is about 5 boards less overall hook but produced a stronger breakpoint.

My Layout: Pin 4 ¾ from PAP, CG 4 ¼ from PAP, Pin is 3 inches above the mid-line of my grip. Balance hole target weighted. Placed 3 ¼ inches from center of grip thru cg. 13/16th bit pitched 1 ¼ right, 2 ½ inches deep

My PAP: 4 ¾ over 1/8 Up

Ball Specs: 15 lbs. 3 oz, Pin Distance 3-4, Top Weight 3 ¾ oz

Static Weights after drilling: 0 Thumb Weight, ½ positive side weight, ¾ bottom weight

It's not exactly the same core, different RG and Diff. Also it's M80^2 not M80 Pearlized. But otherwise a great review............
