Help me choose my first Columbia?
« on: August 02, 2005, 02:37:13 AM »
Now I know there will be MANY possibilities to choose from, so I'll try and give as much info as I can.  Here is what I throw now.

Big Deal
V2 Power
Sling Blade
Spare Ball

There are two different areas where I definitely need some help.  One is in drier conditions, medium to lite and/or carrydown.  The Sling is great for this, but I'm looking to replace it as it is 16 and my newer balls are 15.  I could also possibly use something on the oilier end, stronger than the V2 Power.  I have medium ball speed with low revs, so it's helpful if the ball revs up nice on its own.  I much prefer to play outside, as I don't have the revs to get it back strong when playing deep.  10-12 out to 6-8 is my favorite line, a down and in shot.  I can also square up pretty well, and WILL try to play deep if I have to.  I play in leagues and tournaments about 8-10 times a year.  I realize there are a LOT of possibilities.  Let me know what you think!

I am intrigued by a few Columbia balls, the U Turn, Power Drive and Professional, but I'm pretty open to suggestions.

Let me first say that I cant praise the Backyard Bully enough It is that good. I use it primarily on medium-lite oil shots or second shifts. I dont know if you like hook and set type reactions but this ball seems to do just that for me at least. It seems to carry high hits much better than any equipment I've ever thrown as well as light. I thought my Absolute carried crazy hits but this ball is something else. Not to mention it's looks sooo nice. There's a pic in the profile if you want. The cover is holding up better than the Activator for me. Have been using it for over 6 weeks I guess and there is barely a scratch in there. Could possibly pass it off as new. lol. I would definately recommend this ball to anyone. And the best part, I got it for FREE.

I would go with the U Turn or Backyard Bully for medium to light and for the the drier condition I would g with the Super Trooper.

Panic for lighter.

Nothing really in oil that different BUT the U turn particle goes straighter to breakpoint than V2 power and then turns pretty smooth at back.  Great league ball.  I have Formula which is similar and long and smooth for a particle!

REgards,

PS something completely different for lighter but big backend is the Ego.
Can really be something else on a blended league condition!  Big backend and lots of revvin!!!

What about the other U Turn?  Any word on that one?  Heck, even if it's something similar to what I have, I don't mind that much.  I'm not much more than a league hack at this point anyhow.

I think I'm going to give the U Turn Pearl a try.  I need something to cover the medium to light spectrum, and it sounds like this might work well for that area.
