Older Blue Dot if you can find one.  Why?  Because they are harder than any new style poly ball and therefore go straighter.

There will be very, very few differences among plastic balls on todays oil. If I were you, I'd go with the best looking one.

That said, Columbia has said (somewhere; can't recall where I read it) that while the new Blue Dot is the same technical hardness as the White Dot, the shell is actually less flexible than the White Dot. That translates to, as the ball contacts the lane, less of the Blue Dot, a smaller surface area, is in contact with the lane than a White Dot. The concept is similar to that of solid resin balls and pearlized resin ball. Although the technical hardness rating is the same, a pearl of the same weight as the solid will have a smaller contact area with the lane surface. This promotes more skid, of course.

Good points Jeff.  I will say if your pro shop has many different poly balls in stockj and has a durometer they can be checked for hardness if you do want a  harder ball.

I had a softer WD that over time would dull up easily and one could whiff a 10 pin if you didn't watch it.

I had an old hard Blue Dot. Great when is like new condition. Once a track developed, it started hooking. I resurfaced it and polished it like a freaking marble. No matter what, from then on it hooked a lot, for a hard polyester. I bought a new White Dot and it hooked less.

I gave up on all that plastic BS. I use my mildest resin and can throw small hooks or straight balls at any spare. I even stopped using my SLate Blue Gargoyle for spares. Some minds just can't wrap themselves around those plastic balls ....

I bought an Dyno Thane American Eagle Viza a ball on ebay for $40 including shipping.  It's going to cost me another $35 to drill with inserts.  My pro shop guy will give me a blue dot drilled with inserts in trade. What would you guys do?

If you want polyester, I'd still go with whatever one looked best to your eyes. I kind of like the Silver Blue Dot, sort of an elegant look.

If you want the sexiest ball, then you must buy the Blue Dot.  It's up to you.

If looks and hardness mean that much, then go buy a Legends Arrow, it looks great, it's different than any plastic made looks wise and it is currently the Hardest ball made!

What's the average durometer readings on a Legends Arrow Drrev2000?

The Arrow currently has a sexiness number of 4.59 whereas the Blue Dot has a perfect sexiness number of 5.0.

Just FYI.
