I've lived in Florida for a long time!
Always carried my balls in the trunk but often owned white cars and parked in the shade religiously even if it was a long walk.
This year I got a different car(black) dumb. Still religious about parking in the shade.
Came back from vacation and bowled with one of my new favorite balls the other day.
My reaction Rev. Love it. Bowled great(Sat). Pulled the ball out yesterday and all of a sudden a small crack in bridge in now 3 inches long!!!!
WAAWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWW!!!!!!!
My proshop said keep bowling till it stops hitting!!!! Massive hit! Till now.

1 - Columbia's tend to crack
2 - With multi density fillers being utilized more and more in newer equipment, rates of thermal expansion and contraction makes these newer balls very sensitive to enviroment variation.
-
Columbias tend to crack? I thought it was more of a thing that Storms tended to crack more than any other ball manufacturer out there. at least thats what i usually see is storms cracking.

i put my old rhino pro in the freezer at work for 2 hours then threw it about 15 feet in the air it landed on 6 inches of concrete and it did NOT crack until the 5th or 6th toss. then the bridge cracked. i was shocked at the abuse it took before it fell apart. the core never broke though, just the shell around it.

I had just gotten a ebonite ball from can you rev.It was sitting on my door step when I got home put it in the car, went inside took a shower and left for the pro shop.30 minutes later at the pro shop I set the ball on the shelf and the dam P.O.S cracked from the thumb down away from the finger holes about two inches. This is the first time I had every had a ball crack just sitting thier.

Let me add to the discussion....
1. my father in law has had 4 Brunswick balls crack nearly the entire circumference of the ball just by sitting on his ball rack in his house...Danger Zone, Red Alert, Helix and HPD
2. I have never seen a Storm crack unless you drilled into the pin...had a Wrath and a Bolt both do that.
3. Columbias are VERY prone to cracking around the finger inserts.
4. The older Ebonites (Crush's, Turbo X's & XL's and Nitros) were prone to core separations. I have not seen any problems with the newer Savages, Predators etc.
I think that if any ball were to be exposed to extreme hot or cold that it would cause enough stress to crack it.
Leftyhi-trak brings up a viable point. Do you suppose that the companies without cracking problems are those that match the thermal expansion properties among the components used to make thier balls? I mean these ball companies have enough chemists and R&D guys that you'd think they could minimize this problem.
Any opinions????

I also have an Extreme Chaos and a Rock and neither of them have ever cracked.
and i have even left them out in the middle of the day so that they will sweat out some of the oil thats in them.
