Initial hubbub over Panic disappears! NOw I know!
« on: February 01, 2005, 02:34:35 PM »
When it first came out I heard more touting of this ball and now virtually nothing!

A dud or just people have moved on to newer things?

Panic is a great ball, fits in nicely for medium dry lanes. Shoots down the lane and makes a hard yet controllable turn towards the pins. I even dulled one to 1000 and use it on E pattern. Very versatile ball and alot of bang for the buck. There ya go.

Bought a Panic to try to control wood lanes that start hooking out the house about the middle of the first game.  Drilled 5x4, for me the Panic is NOT for a lane that is on the dry side.  Great for mediums, goes a little longer than my Silver Streak Pearl and definitely more arc and less snap that the SSP, but I find myself playiing about the same line overall just less skid/snap.

I ordered one yesterday and should have it today.  I can give a review once I have thrown a few games on it, if you wish.  Im looking for a ball to fit under my Wired, since the Wired gets pretty touchy once the lanes begin breaking down or if they are left a little dry, and moving inside means playing in too severe of wet/dry.

I have one undrilled and had stopped seeing anything on it after the initial rave reviews.  Just wanted to reget a feel for it before punching.

Thanks for all the input!  Anymore appreciated.

I initially got this ball as a dry lane ball so that I could keep my Wired with some surface and use it for medium-heavy.  My first reaction would have to be that for me, this ball is NOT for dry lanes.  My usual shot is standing 15, throwing out across 10 to maybe 7, then back in.

So far with this ball, I find myself standing at least 20, throwing across 10 and then back in.  The ball moves smoothly, but has a STRONG backend.  What I have found this is very good for, is when you have strong wet/dry, and moving inside leaves 10 pins.  This ball cuts through oil very well and allows me to play inside  without a strong threat of soft 10's.  I just got this, so I am going to play with it a little.  If you need more info, just let me know

So far have mine.  I'm not really jazzed up about it!  Very even with not much pop.  Even where the lanes are jumpy.  Not coming out as clean as I can though.

I'll repost then!

I pull mine out when the conditions are right - usually after about 3-4 games on a pair and the heads are burning up a bit.  This ball is great after the lanes have transitioned a bit.  One of the best examples I can share is a practice session where I used up the left side of the lane entirely with every other piece of equipment I have.  After about 10 games, I pulled out my Panic and scored a couple of games - first a low deuce followed by a 278.

It's a good ball, when the conditions call for it.

Yep,   Now I'm coming out clean and I now know the hubub regarding this ball for lighter or jumpier.  Have posted a review!  I can't miss the pocket on light stuff!

I also note core shape is just like the Hyde which I'm pretty fond of!  Just higher rg and lower diff.  A little density change!
