Okay guys, this is going to sound a little hair brained, but I received a test ball (Bonanza II) from Beans that appears to be a Black/Red Scout.  When I took it to my pro shop and had him spin it on the DeTerminator to see if it would stabilize it did.  It consistently stabilized in 10 seconds.  He layed the ball out with the pin above the bridge and didn't see the typical pancake style weight block.  I'm not sure what ball this is anymore and would like your help.

If anyone has a 15# Scout in their shop and has access to a DeTerminator I'd be curious to see how fast they stabilize, if they even do at all.  This may also turn out to be a Jekyll as a few people have chimed in.

Thanks...

Had it been someone that I respect I wouldn't have rolled my eyes.  I, like many users here, get frustrated when every Tom, Dick, and Harry chime in with their 2 cents.

Am I guilty of this as well?  Perhaps, but I at least try to back up my information with something other than personal opinion and experience.

In addition, I saw a red/black scout this evening while at the lanes and the coloration wasn't the same as my ball. The pin color was a milky white when mine is a gold pearl pin.  I'm not entirely sure, but I thought that the pin color was consistent from the actual ball to the Bonanza version of said ball.

5.5" stacked, which for me is pretty much pin above bridge and CG in palm.  I used it Monday night on the leftovers from the women's tourney shot that as put out Sunday.  With this layout the ball is very smooth.  I was playing up third arrow or was sometimes able to play across third arrow to 10 at the break point.

I had this drilled weak because the summer shot that I'm practicing on most of the time has a huge backend and I was getting tired of standing around 30 and  playing 4th arrow...

Aren't all bets off with a test ball or Bonanza?  Why does the colors have to mean anything?  Couldn't they have been testing different color schemes or coverstocks with several different cores?  I've seen some pretty strange color blems before.  I guess it's all you have to go by, but I'm not sure you can prove much by that alone.

Changelings can have any color since they just pour leftover resin.  I'm willing to bet that is one.

Main guy at the proshop I get my work done at thinks it could be one as well.  But there still hasn't been a clear cut answer on if it's the core or the coverstock, or both that varies from ball to ball with the Changelings.

For what it's worth I sent the serial number into Columbia asking them what it might be.

Okay folks, pro shop guy spun it up again after he punched holes in it.  It still spins up in 10 seconds and stabilized where he had marked the MB.

Does anyone know how fast a Drive stabilizes when spun?

Not a Changeling - they are labeled Changeling and all have the Triumph core.  Colors are similar to other balls in the family, but all are super-flex coverstock (they just use the left over color mix) - there is a thread at amf300.com where Fig explains the Changeling.

Bonanza II balls, as far as I have been able to find out, are color blems from the c300 family (or specs that aren't first quality).  Coverstock and core are the same as the regular ball, you just have to figure out what that ball is!

Let me know if you hear back from Columbia - I e-mailed them with 3 serial numbers of the 3 Bonanza's that I have and have not heard back from them.
