Title: Burst.. First time on the lanes..
Post by: jkiser01 on May 28, 2010, 03:30:29 AM
I had my Burst drilled up with the recommended drilling on the drill sheet which put the pin 4 1/2 inches from my pap. It ended up above my ring (ball has 3 inch pin) with the cg in the palm and no weight hole. I kept it box finish.

I used it on fresh synthetic lanes. It was a house shot but this place is typically wetter than most in the area, especially in the middle.

I started out trying to swing 10 out to 5 and the ball just wouldn''t get back to the pocket so I kept moving right with my feet and target and after 2 170 games I got lined up pretty good. I was playing straight up 5 at the arrows and the ball was just crushing the pocket. I shot 276 255 233 and 226 the last 4 games.

I think in box finish it might not be a 1st ball out of the bag on the fresh ball unless you throw it pretty slow, but after the lanes broke down a little bit, this ball shined.

I have another one I will be getting drilled up the same way but will be taking the cover to 1000 and see if I can get the "Resurgence" I am looking for !!

All in all, a very good release from Columbia 300!! I can''t wait to use it some more at different houses and conditions..

UPDATE:

I was able to use the ball again today at the same house but this time the lanes were a little but drier starting out. Man did this ball shine on this condition. I shot 279 and 255 with it and was very happy with the pin carry I was able to get today. Carrying the lighter pocket hits was very nice. No 10''s at all. I am liking this ball alot.. Not sure what to do with the other one I have sitting here!!

Will it fit between the Pure and the Freeze?

Your initial idea of using a similar layout with a different surface prep is usually how I like to set stuff up.

I just want to know if you take the polish and finishing process off of the ball and put it at the same out of box cover as the original Resurgence if it performs just as well.

It should. Especially if you do it like a resurfacing where you work 4-6 sides of the ball.

not to sure if it will roll exactly like the RESURGENCE did when it was NIB. The factory finish was done a couple ways to create a longer teeth pattern with the shell that are not allowed anymore. However I do think you could get close enough by using the 500 500 1000 finish like the Total Bedlam.

Still wondering if anyone has attempted to bring the surface down to the surface of the original Resurgence and let us know how it performs compared to the original and the total bedlam.

We have sold a few out here in Reno at the USBC Open and brought the surface down to a 1000 like the Resurgence. It is a lot sooner and a lot more even through the lane then the Total Bedlam and a carbon copy of the Resurgence. BUT with the polish on the Burst at 4000 it reacts like a totally different ball, really nice how one ball can be that versatile.

I got to use my Burst for the first time on Friday.  I put a benchmark layout on the ball so I could use my hand to tweak the reaction to see what this ball does well and not so well.  I started playing a little straighter and jumped in when the midlane broke down and had a good look both ways.  Can't wait to throw this rock a little more to see what it can really do.

I decided to keep the ball with its out of the box finish. This ball on fresh went too long but Designed for medium to dry lane conditions, the Burst provides a long and even arc down lane and still has enough power to "BURST" in to the pins.
