C300 Newer Releases with Fun and Bright Colors

The throwdown seems like it will be another solid release for C300. However, in my area the C300 stuff is just sitting on the shelf. I don't see any of it being thrown in leagues or tournaments lately. There are two C300 faithfuls that have started transitioning to another brand because of the bright color schemes. I think people will miss out on some good rolling pieces, because of this new fun and bright color concept that columbia has decided to go with.

Some people are like that. I really like the way the throw down rolls so I'm considering it even though I'm not a big fan of the colors

I think that both Columbia and Track are making some truly awesome balls these days; and I am not one to spew out superlatives like that. Sad to say, their color schemes border on the ludicrous, almost clown-like in nature, screaming, "Pay attention to me; my ego demands you pay attention to me!! My self-confidence is so low I need to enforce it by doing anything to draw attention to myself. I have no pride; so I resort to attention getting device like these colors."

While I love colorful things, many of these balls go beyond all reason.

my clown ball due to its "intense" color scheme. I was almost embarrassed to be seen using it. however it doesn't hold a candle to some of the color schemes on these newest Columbia and Track balls. I think, for most of us "human beings", who feel no dire need to draw attention to ourselves, they need to scale back the "INTENSE" colors of some of these balls. I am not saying they should all be solid black. A few greens, blues and reds with one other color each might be nice for a change.

Again, the balls are fantastic; the colors are ... slightly excessive.

Blueprints comment fits me to a T.  If my pro shop guy gives me a choice of three balls that fit my game, I doubt that I would pick the one that looks like monkey puke.  If he said monkey puke is definitely the ball for you, I would consider it.

Almost every manufacture has released one or several bowling balls with really bright colors.

I am picky when it come to this because it can cause problems when the ball is going down the lane and how you perceive the ball is reacting versus what it is actually doing. Light or dark mixtures can cause this problem sometimes if the pattern is just right to look wrong.

I have had this happen with a Brunswick c-systems Ulti-max, Hammer Grind(green black), Morich Awesome revs, and a few others.

The new DV8 Schizo was one I thought I would never try because of the bright/light color mix. However the ball looked better in person then in the pictures and was very happy after drilling. I am able to see the ball and its progression as it goes down the lane just fine.

That is why color is important to me.

I personally could care less about the color of my bowling balls. There are a lot of people that buy bowling balls based on looks though. I could see the new C300 color schemes turning some away , and getting some peoples attention. I personally have found the new color mixes have made the ball motion easier to read.If you have a solid color bowling ball , It makes it harder to see where it starts the hook phase. I have had several people compliment me on how good the new releases look. Both while sitting on the counter , and the ball motion on the lanes. I have thrown only C300 for the last 13 years. And they are producing better equipment now than they ever have. The bottom line is , buy a ball for performance. Not because of the color it may be....... Anthony.

I just bought two on the shelf N'Sane Antics balls in the proshop for basically cost because they they were collecting dust. Bowlers weren't considering them because of the colors, and it didn't look like they were going to sell in the foreseeable future. The irony is that they roll as well as anything else I own, and I have a lot of balls across several different brands.
 
I found the same bowler reaction to my orange colored Eruption Pro. Again, the irony is that I'll take it out of the bag before my two more "color appealing" Storm pearl IQ's.
 
The bottom line is that it's about performance, and the rest is meaningless fluff. Still, Columbia should recognize they're losing a lot of sales due to color, and adjust things accordingly.

Personally, the uglier the ball looks the better it usually rolls. Some of my favorites have been the Columbia Action Packed, Track Assassin and 910A, and Lane#1 Pink Panther and Tsunami.

Interesting discussion.

I can honestly say, no one has ever come up to me to ask me what ball I am throwing when the ball is solid black or blue.  However, if I am throwing something colorful which is noticeably neat looking due to my high rev rate, I have been asked the question.

And I'll catch a colorful ball out of the corner of my eye a few pairs away and may go watch the guy and see what the ball is, where as a solid black ball, I wouldn't notice going down the lane.  It is not going to stand out and catch my eye while I'm casually looking around.

For example, when someone on the league I bowl brought out his bright yellow DV8 misfit, I noticed it from 8 pairs away and went to find out what the heck it was and see how it rolled.  If it was a black Versamax for example, I wouldn't have given it a 2nd thought.
