This was true years ago.

Rules from the USBC also doesn't allow any subtance on the ball gut you still see pros and other bowlers banging their rosin bag over the holes then wipe it off.  Now even wiping the rosin off the ball is illgeal

Just curious since Barnes is under contract with Columbia, how does he get away with throwing a Viz-a-Ball?  I mean I know he has the contract with Pepsi too, but is there something stating he can throw that even though Columbia makes plastic?

They probably worked his contract out to allow him to throw the Pepsi Viz-a-ball even though it wasn't manufactured from the company he throws.

Well here in the UK we are now not allowed to use any products which emit dust such as hand conditioners/grip sacks etc in the players/seating area, which as I am sure some of you are aware would be a right pain in the butt in bowling alleys that get hot or for bowlers like myself, who have trouble with their grip sometimes.

Also there is a rule in place whereby you cannot alter the surface of a ball once a tournament has started, even between blocks. Thats fine for those that can afford to bring lots of balls with varying surfaces to the tournament but what about those, such as myself, who cannot afford this luxury?

Makes you wonder sometimes if the people who run bowling know the first thing about bowling themselves!

its part of the pba advertising.  certain players i think are REQUIRED to throw branded vizaballs like the pepsi, CLR, or Lumber Liquidator balls.

I actually own a Storm Viz-a-Ball. The ball is obviously made by Brunswick, due to Brunswick has the Viz-a-Ball process patented.   But, because it is a sponsor ball, they are allowed to throw it.  Although, if you are not sponsored by the company, you cannot throw that ball.  I know a bowler who bowled the US Open with a white sanded Viz-a-Ball cause he was not authorized to throw it.

Wasnt that GL3 that had a Pepsi ball and they made him either sand the logo off or take it out of play??? Pretty crazy since you can purchase that ball at many different online stores. Guess the PBA can do what they want. Just like the shoe issue. Why is it allowed that people can wear Nike or New Balance tennis shoes as bowling shoes, but Linds cant be worn, because they didnt pay to be a licensed equipment. If they are going to stick to the rules there should be no grey area's PERIOD.
