Columbia Action - Anyone see it in "Action" Yet?
« on: November 22, 2005, 05:31:33 AM »
Hey guys/gals. Just like the title says, has anyone seen this ball in league or tournaments? Do you have one? If so, would love to hear your thoughts on the ball/layout/etc.

Thanks!

Ram,

My teammate on Friday shot a 300 his first game using the Action. I didn't really look at the layout, but whatever it was, it made a pretty good turn on the backend. He ended up shooting 780. Ball hit like a truck, sent pins all over the place. Of course, he is a very good bowler and does this with anything he throws, but I was impressed with the roll and the hit.

Tracy, thanks for the update bud. Can you do me a favor? When you see him in a few Fridays from now (I suppose you get this friday bowling off due to the Holiday), can you see how it is laid out? Thanks!

Also, what type of player/style is your teammate?
Thanks!

No problem. I would consider him a stroker who turns the ball over pretty good. More down and in, than swing.

Realize you've seen the core motion...a lot...just a different wrapper.

Ego, Shock, Reaction Rev, Reaction Rebound, WOW.

Revs hard,,,,turns smooth...seems to struggle a little on carrydown.

I have a Action drilled pin over ring Cg stacked below has 7/8oz side wt 1/2oz finger wt  I also have a 300 on mine only 7 games before It came about.
Also I hit mine with a 600grit polish before I drilled it its way good on medium conditions with this layout and polish but in soup I need t dull it,
and its not for dry period!
Good luck

I drilled one up last week and first impressions are WOW. I thought the EPX hooked and hit. This ball takes that too the next level. I really have not found the conditions for it yet, but am very impressed so far. Using it on the same shot last weekend and comparing to my BigBully that has the same layout. The BB is polished up a little and the Action is the 1200 dull out of box, but the Action was maybe 10 boards stronger. That was 7 with my feet and needing a good 2 or 3 bigger swing at the breakpoint. Looking forward to getting some practice time so I can learn more about this ball. I also have a second setting in the box waiting on the drill. The first is drilled 4 x 3 3/8 and the second will go 3 3/8 x 5 for more arc.

drilled mine 4 1/2 by 4 1/2 and love it.first columbia ball in 6 years.18 mph above average revs.Ball is very forgiving.used it on a shorter pattern with heavy oil 14 to 14..13 to 3 fryed with ob 3 out.played 30 to 15 if i missed right would recover great.if i went up 4 and went up the back of the ball on the burn with my speed could get away with it.but i like to hook it and this ball is great inside opens the lane up well.over all really pleased with it.hits hard and kicks the corners out good

High polish and about 4 1/2 by 4 1/2, no hole.  Man this ball is great.  Hits very good, more hook than a Big Bully drilled the same.  Have had mine for about a month now, and almost shot 300 with it about 4 times.  Reminds me alot of the Smokin Inferno, maybe slightly longer.  Action is very good, my local supplier is out of them, I have about 4-5 sold if I could get them!
