Enigma FIGJAM
« on: April 24, 2013, 10:29:21 AM »
Yes.  Have to admit that I went 300 the last game for 801 last night using my Enigma.  With that said......the main reason for this post is that for a ball that hooks that much and someone with my rev rate, I was able to use it all 3 games last night.  I have the cover at 3000 abralon.  If anyone with rev rate is up in the air about whether they should drill one of these; if you take the cover from box to 3000, the ball becomes very useable as long as there is enough oil in the front part of the lane.  Doesnt necessarily have to be a flood to use this ball.  This ball is fantastic!!!!  It blends in wet/dry fairly well as the cover strength allows it to read the oil and yet not overjump off the dry.  Did I mention I broke the bank for $4,000 with it also? Ball already paid for itself and then some.  Dont be afraid to drill this piece.

Nice pot win!
There was a bowling ball showcase this past weekend with most of the big brands participating.  My son was looking for a stronger ball than his Lucid.  He got to try a multitude of balls and it came down to the Enigma, 811C/T, and First Blood.  He chose the Enigma!

Twohand,

Wow!

I've seen your videos, I don't know why you don't shoot 800 every other week.

Is it the ball, or great two handed throwing?  Nice job!  Equal to second place in the recent senior tour stop this week.

Thanks for the complements you guys.  Main reason I dont throw more honor scores is simply because I dont have the ball speed I used to 10 years ago.  As I have gotten older, the speed went from 20mph at release to 17.5 - 18mph at release, which isnt terrible.  But it has made a difference.  Plus, with the coverstocks soaking oil at faster rates, my moves are more frequent whereas 10 years ago I could stay in a zone for longer periods of time.  The average is still there more due to knowledge than anything else.  The monster scores arent there like they used to be, which I am cool with.  With getting older, you get wiser.  Years ago, it may have bothered me when I didnt shoot a big number.  Now, its "been there, done that" type of mentality.  I go to bowl with being a team guy first now.  I get more satisfaction helping to get my teammates lined up and the right ball in their hands than me shooting a number.  BUT....have to admit that it felt great to get there again as it had been a few years since my last 300 and about 5 years since my last 800.

@Artimust........hope your son likes his Enigma.  Just keep in mind that you dont have to drill it strong simply because the coverstock is already strong enough.  Keep the layout simple and adjust the cover if needed.

I'm taking an Enigma to Nationals at 3000 and a Mass Eruption at 2000, I think they will work well.

I will agree.  I am taking my Enigma also at 3000, my Violent Eruption at 2000 plus rough buff, and Tornado at 4000 plus Factory Finish.  Debating if I really need anything else.

Nice shooting Steven! I also have an Enigma but I have had only mixed success with it. Haven't seen you in quite awhile. What house you bowling at now?

Finally got my 16 year old sons Enigma punched up,  pin above and between the fingers. He threw it a half game to get used to the reaction,  then went on to throw a 255 the next game. The ball is OOB, no weight hole. Very strong ball and hits incredibly hard!  The shot was a burnt up house shot after a day of senior leagues, so the lanes were pretty spotty, but the ball had a very consistent read and he could strike from several different lines.
Needless to say,  he loves it! !!!  This is his very first Columbia 300 Ball and he's looking forward to more awesome C300 balls! :o
