Title: Gem heavy oil ball
Post by: ThomasBowling on April 07, 2016, 03:13:15 PM
I'm looking to buy a new heavy oil ball that's retired. Just not by 15 year ok :P
I'm most interested in C300, Hammer and Motiv. (Don't mention the other 2 in this thread).
I'm a stroker, low rev rate, slightly above avg speed. Barelly any curve, very straight.
Axis tilt is barelly tilting :P
And I can spare the 10 pin on medium oil with my C300 Swerve. That's how little hook I can create :P So keep that in mind when posting.

Doesn't have to be considered a gem :P
Just has to be a great agressive ball that'll hook great on heavy oil.

GO.

you already have the Scandal
that's a big hooking ball, what else are you looking for?

I have a Dark Encounter and a Wicked Encounter. Both are 15# NIB if you are interested.

It's hard to control man :P
The Swerve is easier to control for me.

Though I want to try a ball that hooks early or delayed.

So you want a heavy oil ball that hooks more than the Swerve, but less than the Scandal? The Antics might fit that description.

the paradox and the legion are below that
but before I would try something else, put some polish over the 2000 dull coverstock
it will still hook plenty, just in a different spot

the Paradox is a really good piece and about 4-5 less than the Scandal
the Legion is less than the Paradox but still above the swerve

remember: ball surface accounts for 50% of ball motion
don't be afraid to try different surfaces, polishes, etc
1000+ polish, 2000+ polish, 4000+ polish, many different combinations to choose from
take the scandal back to where you got it and talk to him
surface change is easy step to try, maybe a weight hole could be added to tame it also

I don't mind the extra hook, that wasn't what I meant.
I just said that the Scandal is harder for me to figure out than the Swerve.
I know the Scandal probably is the most hooking ball on the market atm.
But my Scandal hooks late. And I don't think any layout will make it hook early like I'd prefer on a new ball. I just want something diffrent than the 2 I'm currently using. Experimental.
The Covert Revolt has early hook. But I doubt the PSO has that one too unfortunatly.
So I'll have to dig in his van and ask him which ball will hook earlier than late :P

if you want earlier hook and still strong, then the Bad Intentions is it.

Same for the Hybrid?

the hybrid gets through the heads better, the original BI rolss right away with any surface it seems. o a medium pattern at this house,we have to go 500, 2000, + polish to get it down the lane.
scuff it up and it rolls pretty early
now these are older synthetics that have alot of friction, but there is also quite a a bit of volume to try and compensate
