New Balls & Throttle Xcelerator
« on: June 04, 2004, 06:12:57 AM »
I have a few questions

1. I currently have no Information about the Throttle Xcelerator. I am assuming the Throttle Xcelerator is an overseas ball because we havn't heard about it yet. But my question is why is columbia releasing so many throttle overseas balls already.I think columbia only released two overseas Icons that I know of AND have information on (The Icon Quad and the Icon EQ) Here are the ones I know stuff about already (overseas)

Throttle On Blue/Silver
Throttle On Grape
Throttle Tuning

2. Columbia has just approved two new flipside balls on the approved list; this is what they are.

Flipside Fear
Flipside Panic

I have a few thoughts on what these balls could be:

I think one of them will replace the wild(s). The wilds have been around a while, and they might want to replace them with a new name, even if they are similar. However, the Fear might be an overseas ball only because columbia likes to release Flipside balls starting with "F" overseas (Flipside Fiesta, and Flipside Fiend). Therefore, I am thinking the Panic may be released here replacing the wilds (as I stated above). But if both are relased here than I really don't know what they will do with the other one.

Any info or thoughts on these balls? Thanks

Actually, there will be 3 new Flipsides - The Fear, Panic and Shock.  None of the three are overseas balls, and keep in mind that most Flipsides are the medium-line balls.  The Fear is a three-piece and uses a Wild-type core with a Superflex coverstock.  The Panic uses a Hyde-type core with a Pearl Superflex coverstock and the Shock uses a Rock-On type core with a Solid sanded UFD (Ego, Wired) coverstock - I believe the hook rating on this one is 25/25/50.  I haven't heard anything about the Throttles you mentioned except that the On is an overseas version.  I'm guessing the XCelerator is also, as its been on the list for quite some time.  Don't know anything about the Throttle Tuning.

I have the colors of those at home, can't remember off the top of my head.

Personally, I'm anxiously waiting for the solid Superflex Alter Ego, whenever that comes, but these will fit in quite nicely...

Thanks for the information on these new balls that will be realeased in the US. I guess I can't be surprised that columbia is going to come out with three balls, mainly since everybody seems to be coming out with a crapload of balls over the summer. (Ebonite, Hammer, Storm) The Shock sounds pretty cool though. Also, please get those colors when you get home/can, thanks

Since Columbia dumped the Wicked's from the line, they have a hole.  The Wicked sold really well to our NJ customers.

I thought that comic ads for the Super Trooper and Trooper were a bit sad.  I think if you are going to go with Cartoons, at least have well drawn ones.  Those looked like something from Junior High.
