Tour Boss Pearl?
« on: August 02, 2011, 10:02:04 AM »
I just nailed a 14.4 Tour Boss Pearl on Ebay, I had this ball when I used 15's years ago, does anyone still throw this gem?

I guess this ball was too old for anyone to remember, the ball turned out to be heavier at 14.8, after drilling 4 holes in it, I used it on a Full synthetic House shot and bowled a 279 second game with it, it's a keeper, God I'm glad I won that auction on Ebay for this ball!

It was a popular ball at the time. There is a lot of talk about todays oils and everything else, but I think this is mostly hype for selling super aggressive bowling balls. Most older bowling balls roll great on many of the shots bowlers face today and don't require the bowler to move after a few shots to keep chasing the oil that is burned up so quickly. That is why so many of the entry level bowling balls of today are so popular. Brunswick still uses the PK17 cover from the Zones of 1995 and many other companies use similar older covers on their entry level equipment. The game, the lanes, and the oil haven't changed that much. Only the sales gimmicks.

I've watched a few of the older bowling balls on ebay and if the price is right I may snag another.

The guy who sold me this ball just listed a 14.4 Columbia Pit Boss and a 14.4 Pearl Boss NIB, it's just not fair, he wants a lot of money for these balls and I can't buy them as fast as he's listing them!

First league night with the Tour Boss Pearl, 248, 258 then dropped-off to a 219, I lead the pair by over 100 pins, my team sucked but I showed-up thanks to my Rare Gem.

I got a solid Tour Boss from a friend this year and have thrown it with some success. I'm still playing with the surface though.
