New Power Torq????
« on: August 20, 2021, 12:27:55 PM »
Looking at the USBC Approved Ball List; I noticed a Power Torq that was approved on August 17th.  Are we seeing a retro ball release coming out stateside?  I had one and absolutely loved it.  Think I remember seeing Wayne Webb throw one on TV when the original came out and my first thought was I had to have it.  This would be awesome if it is indeed being released.

Nope. RINO. Remake in name only.

This Power Torq is not a remake of the early 1990s Power Torq, we revisited the name as homage to the brand’s history, but the core and cover combination are new. We increased our development and testing process for this ball, and you’ll see evidence of this when you watch the ball motion. We are back to pouring multi-density cores for Columbia 300, something Columbia 300 pioneered and was known for. The multi-density cores allow us to target mass properties within the core body to enhance desired ball motion. The Low RG and High Differential core numbers and new core inner don’t appear different on paper, but you will notice the difference on the lanes.

New ball, recycled name.

Shoulda started the remake cycle with torq, then made a power torq.

Just my opinion.

I had the Power Torq back in the mid 90's.  Shot my first 800 with one.  great rolling ball.  too bad all these companies are doing is bring the name back.  following what the car manufacturers are doing with cars.

That kind of sucks.  Why bother?  A lot of the retro balls (not all of them of course) have the same core as the original but with an updated cover to handle new oils.  Thing is the original is so old that one couldnt really do a side by side comparison to see how similar or different the new is compared to the old.  I would like to know if at least the core numbers are similar.

if they are in fact bringing multi-density cores back to Columbia, I hope this means rereleases of the Quake, Cuda, and Piranha.  I would gladly buy a new violet Quake, gold pearl Quake, and add a purple pearl Beast as well.  Full retro arsenal!!  Would be a total blast.

Well 900 was doing it the same way with the inception dct.... depending on how they do it, you couldn't do interchangeables...I do remember that.
