No announcement from Columbia
« on: February 10, 2007, 12:24:30 PM »
Does anyone else think it kind of strange that no one from Columbia has made an official announcement?

Not really.  Usually it's the buyer that does all the talking, especially in the early stages.

From what I read elsewhere, Columbia didn't even have the courtesy to break it gently to their own employees. An email saying the plant was closing on April 8th was all they got. Typical American corporate policy, despite the relatively small number of employees.

Ebonite released the info before they were supposed to, we had a meeting scheduled at 4pm to inform.

Newguy is correct as he knows, the rumor getting out here forced the press release to be sent out early. In this day and age keeping a secret from anyone no matter what business is almost impossible, plus like my pal JDT says i cannot help myself but leak the beans lol sometimes. So anyone who tells me anything is an idiot i guess, since i spill the beans and act like a big shot which i am not in the bowling business. I am just a bowler that gets excited when i hear something good and posts it, i am going to stop that though as it gets me in too much trouble anymore.

JDT is a bowling god and we should be honored to have such a man amoung us

Ebonite has purchased Columbia/Dynothane/Track bowling companies. The rest of the details as to what that means and how it affects the bowling world. Well your just gonna have to sit tight and wait till more is released. I did hear that just about everyone at Columbia/Dynothane/Track will be released sometime in early April.

I don't understand why everyone is so pissed about the bonus reward program ending?? It just sounds like a bunch of people are whining because of there own laziness to send in there stickers and now they have all these FREE points that they can't redeem? So that's Columbia's fault right?? Not...I too have some stickers and bag tags but instead I'm going to say "thanks" Columbia for running such a great program!!  This was something that Columbia and only Columbia did, it was a great program that was FREE of charge.  I'm more concerned about the good people that are out of jobs as of April 8th.

Thanks Columbia for all you have done, it's been a tough road and I hope the best for everyone in San Antonio!!

I'm out!!

NOT EXACTLY SO SIR.  most pro shops do not send in the stickers on a DAILY BASIS.  we sent ours in around the middle of dec. 06,  and since then we have
accumlated many more.  we would have probably sent them in by the end of feb. 07.
again we don't pull 2 stickers off ball box's and run to the mail box with them.
and when your shop is busy, and you get in a large delivery of balls bags shoes etc.,  it does take time to pull all those stickers of the ball box's and put them on the sheet.  especially if your checking in 30-40 balls. while waiting on customers.
so not complaining about not sending in stickers that we may have accumlated in the last month.

as for this program being called great.  i don't think so,  it was time consuming on both ends.  a simple discount would have been much easier for both parties.  like 4-1 etc.

and i feel that columbia / ebonite should allow all pro shops to send in their stickers now.  but we all received a notice several days after the buyout, that the program was ended and no more stickers would be accepted.
you see, some pro shops are very busy in the dec. / jan. feb. time frame.  and don't have the time to run to the mail box with 2-3 stickers at a time.  so they may send them in all at once.   that's not being lazy sir,  that's being busy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's like holding bar chips and not redeeming them and the bar goes out of business.  Too bad so sad.

So I guess that is what you tell the phone company, distributor of choice and anyone else you have to pay a bill for.

Sorry Sir we can get to the mail box because I'm to busy??  Please it's called time management.  If the program was that important to a shop operator then it should of been completed in a timely manner. Weekly, monthly or daily.

just as scotts33 said "to bad so sad" it's not Columbia fault for GIVING you a FREE program that YOU couldn't manage.

I guess its the old what have you done for me lately theory. Once again thank Columbia for putting such a great program together that I couldn't get from anyone else!!

If the program was that important to you, you should have ran to the mailbox with every sheet.  It's not Columbia fault that you decided to save all/most of your sheets.  I signed up on this program from the start and never once was told by them or any rep that I should save my sheets before I turn them in, so I think that was the way you decided to do it.

A little notice? I'm sure they would have if they would of known that the company they work for was going to be sold? Maybe they should of went to a fortune teller?? Yeah there's an idea!!

Shame on you Columbia for not being able to see the future and give proper notice of when your company is going to be sold, shame, shame, shame!!!!!

and by the way its boxers not briefs and tea not coffee.

I'm out!!
