I am nervous
« on: July 08, 2008, 05:02:57 AM »
about trying any of Columbia new stuff, I liked the older gear I had quite a few before the move to Ebonite but now I cringe at the thought, I have never matched well with Ebonite covers and alot of guys around here will not throw Ebonite due to cracking and dying issues.

I would very much like to try one of their new balls maybe Noize, Rival or Wrath Hi Flush but I can't bring myself to put up money for them. Maybe when I see one on the used rack at my pro shop I will have Tim drill it for me.

I had a resurgence (well still have it, trying to move it) and really like(d) it. The ball is really really strong and very archy in reaction in box finish. The ball definitely needs oil to be effective. It also took polish very well.

I have seen many having success with the Rival, it has come off as very good medium oil ball all around. Durability hasn't been an issue from what i've seen for those that clean equipment, and I haven't heard of any cracking in my area on anything besides balls that were left in the cold or extreme heat.

Well for me, I'm very happy with my Resurgence and Rival that I picked up when it was first released last year. My Rival has about 300+ games on it. Never resurface, rejuvenated, or ball soaked. Wiped it down before, during, and after my league. Did I also mention I've been using the Rival in my PBA experience league. My Resurgence has about 200+ on it. Both balls is still giving me the same reaction when I fist used it. Trust me, you'll be happy with the new stuff from Columbia.

I too was concerned with the new Columbia300 stuff. I absolutely love the Rival and i am quickly switching all my stuff over to Columbia. But it just really works well for me. The Rival is probably the best ball they have come out with, polish it up and it is just flat out awesome.

I think you really can't go wrong with the "new Columbia" products.  All the balls fit any bowlers's styles, and are exactly as advertised.  Just decide what ball reaction you are looking for, and pick whichever ball fits that criteria.  You won't be disappointed!

The Rival and Wrath High Flush have had success since being released.  The Noize is a lot of ball for the money.  I threw it while at BowlExpo in Orlando, and the super-strong cover and mild core are a great match.

The original Momentum is an amazing piece. I bought one around its release, and its one of my favorite balls.

Since I still use my Big Shot, (Between my Resurgence & Rival) I've never picked up the Momentum. I was just curious if Tim had thrown the new Momentum Swing and what his thoughts about it. That ball is the one I'm awaiting to pickup this season.

I threw the Swing briefly in Orlando.  I did not have either a Resurgence or Momentum to throw side-by-side, but I could definitely tell it definitely moved harder off the spot than what the previous two high-end balls offered.

So, are you saying that the swing is better than the arch rival?? or is it just stronger than the arch rival?

The swing reads the midlane more than the Arch Rival.

Whether one is better than the other, that always depends on a certain day, with a certain lane condition, etc.  Manufacturers do extensive testing on balls before they are released, so the balls that get released are what the R&D departments felt their line needed.
