Title: Outburst Replacement
Post by: dmonroe814 on August 02, 2012, 09:55:52 AM
I absolutely love my Outburst.  I have been looking for a replacement, but I can't find a ball with the same reaction.  Strong Arc is the listing for it.  The Pearl coverstocks seem to slide too far and snap wickedly on the back end.  Solid balls seem to start rolling sooner, but lose some power on the back end.  The newer balls all seem to be much more agressive, which works at my med-Heavy to Heavy oil house, but I can't use them when I go to tournaments.  The Benchmark seemed to be close, but even that is being phased out.  My pro-shop owner wants me to buy a Storm Fire Road, but I am leary because it is Pearl coverstock.  Any suggestions?

If you're going to go with any ball in the storm lineup to replace an outburst it would be from the Marvel line, definitely not a fire road. The IQ tour is an amazing ball and you'll never have to worry about it being too wild on the backend.

Why don't you look at a RESURGENCE REVIVAL - same core with updated cover. or check around on different sites. I believe you can still find some  nib Outbursts.

You cant find a replacement for a outburst. Omen is to strong, Oath is to strong. Maybe Endure from ebonite, but that whould be stronger to. IQ Tour is a stronger cover and weaker core, while the Outburst is a weaker cover and a medium strong core. At this moment you could find another Outburst or wait til C300 release a Outburst replacement

. Thanks for the info.  Your post agrees with the info I have found so far.  I will keep my Outburst in as good shape as I can for as long as I can.  Thank you

. I have a Modern Marvel, but it is much stronger than my Outburst. I can only use it in heavy oil.

I would re-consider the suggestion of a previous reply in this thread - the Ebonite Endure. A friend has been using it fairly well and I see in the BJI review of it, that it is placed just below the Outburst and is positioned such that it is very proportionate in length, oil handling and breakpoint shape to the original Outburst. Keep in mind that the Outburst was finished in a VERY rough 1000 grit, while the Endure is finished with a 3000 grit pad. I believe if you finished the Endure with 2000 grit you'd get very close to the Outburst's overall reaction and the ENdure is priced at the medium level.

Thank you.  I will look at the endure.  I have also been studying the violent eruption, as it looks similar on paper.

Don't be fooled by what the numbers say.  The violent eruption has a pearlized cover, is going to be longer than the outburst even with the violents' lower rg core.  You can't go wrong with an endure, in my opinion.  The endure is going to be a good replacement for the outburst, going to give you that early roll you loved seeing in your outburst.

Thank you.  So, the New Era Skid Flip Plus is a pearlized?  Most of the reviews say that they are pearlized coverstocks.  This one doesn't.  Thanks for the heads up.

I really like the Brunswick Wild Card. Very similar to the Outburst. You could definitely say the Wild Card is "skid/flip". Very clean through the front, with a angular but smooth backend and pin smashing hit. I shot a 300 with the Wild Card yesterday. I'll go as far to say it is my favorite ball of all time.

The new era cover is still a pearl, it is supposed to go longer than the original eruption, definitely not what you are looking for.
