Tropical is too strong for the dry I can definitely vouch for that.  Look for a Scout..the end.

The Emerald Vibe is the strongest of those all, followed by the Dead Flush. The Scout or Razyr is your best bet for dry

Do I have to drill the weak layout if I choose scout or razyr?

Don't forget they're pancake cores, not dynamic cores. Very sensitive to side, top/bottom weights.

I have the Jazz and it is a perfect dry lane ball.  Drilled it 5 X 5...and when the heads go and lanes are toast it comes out.....in it's lovely orange and yellow colors...and lets me attack the dry conditions with no problems...very controlled...and hard hitting.  I had a Scout and gave it up once I used the Jazz...

Just my 2 cents.

My opinion is that the Jazz will not allow me a medium rev player to play the inside part of the lane when they are drier and even more so with a scout, it will be good though if you are looking to play the track late in a league night or maybe a tournament condition those two balls are good.  A Wrath Dead Flush I can get in though and turn a corner very very well evn on the toasted conditions, just do a longer pin....

my scout is drilled at 90 and it is pretty strong for that type of ball. i have no problem playing the track/ third arrow with when the lanes become toast. i would call myself a medium to hi rev player. about 16mph

We have to be careful not to compare new Scouts to old Scouts. The old Scouts hooked hard when they encountered friction if you had medium to high revolutions due to the puck in the core. The new Scout is a lot smoother off the dry due to the pancake core but it still hits fairly well.

The Jazz for me is like the old Scouts. It turns sharp at the sign of friction but is allergic to oil. It will work on dry if you have decent speed or low revs. It hits great for a low price ball. Way better than the old Scouts.

Ive had the scout, desert heat, link, neptune, Hornet and some vibes. Razyr is most versatile of all of them for me. Simple drilling, stick to the recommended drill and you wont be sorry. Doesn't hit like a pancake core. Very good ball IMO for dry lanes. Hornet a close second because of how smooth it rolled. Good Luck.
