Durability
« on: February 11, 2008, 09:45:30 AM »
Anyone having any durability issues with the new columbia stuff? Particularly with the Rival or High Wrath Flush. People keep saying their Ebonite stuff dies after 50 games, and was wondering if anyone has noticed a difference with the new Columbia coverstocks. I am intrigued by what I have seen of the Rival and may try it out. Haven't use a Columbia ball since the Messenger series. Great line!

Regardless of a ball losing reaction you play the line the lanes give you and the one you can play with the most confidence. My Rival is still going strong though...

I kinda hope mine do "die" some because they are as strong, or stronger, than any balls I've owned.  They make this life-long "stroker" look like a long-time "cranker"...these balls got some move on them...

Honestly, I've never had a ball "die" on me and I've never witnessed a ball "die" on anyone else.  I have had a few that didn't "work" from the get go, but that's another story for another day.  As I've posted before, the reason I think people say a ball has "died" is because they are using it on the wrong condition.  A strong ball with a strong cover WILL NOT HOOK on a drier lane the same way a weaker ball will not hook in a flood.

If one takes care of his/her equipment with a little ball maintenance (cleaning) after each session, your ball should last for a long, long time.

That which doesn't kill you will only make you stronger, that which doesn't make you stronger is a waste of time!

I have the Rival and Resurgence and have about 30-40 games on each and have not noticed any decline in performance.
