I have read a ton of reviews on both balls and 99% of them seem to be positive. Is there a major difference between the 2? The last Columbia ball I threw was the Reaction Arc, which I loved. Haven't had much luck finding something to replace it for heavy oil conditions and was considering either the Resurgence or the Cell or possibly a ball with a particle coverstock. Any thoughts/suggestions? I typically throw about 17-18 mph with lower revs. Thanks in advance.

I think, and I'm not positive so please correct me if I'm wrong Columbia/Roto-Grip guys, that the main difference is a symmetrical core (Resurgence) vs. an asymmetrical core (Cell)

Both hook a ton at their OOB surfaces...for me, the cell gets a little farther downlane before it makes its move, but is more violent at the breakpoint and hooks more overall...the resurgence is a bit more controllable throughout the entire lane and hooks a tad less overall

I wonder how much of that difference is due to the Resurgence's 800 grit stock finish and the Cell's 2000 grit surface + the drilling of its asymmetric core???
The Cell should be less violent/smoother with an 800 grit surface but then, how much oil would it need to operate at all?
My Cell did not have a violent backend (Britton, I know you said "more violent".), until I went to 4000 grit finish.

I actually have both and both are on OOB condition. I find the Cell handles a little bit more oil. On the Scorpion pattern, the Cell would make it to the pocket, while the Resurgence was leaving 2's, 2-8's, 2-8-10's from the same spot. Also, I think the Cell gives me a little bit more mistake room. Both are very good balls. I use my Resugence as my step down if the Cell start to hook too much or begins leaving a lot of 9 pins.
I have a Rival as well and am thinking of getting another Cell, shining it up to fit between the Resurgence and the Rival, so my most hooking ball down would look like Cell-OOB, Resurgence-OOB, Cell-Shined, Rival-Shined.

Just so you know the Resurgence is actually 1000 Abralon OOB so they are actually pretty close...i still would imagine that cover preps do make a slight difference..i think the biggest difference tho here is core strength...in reality i would be willing to bet if you put the same core under both covers you wouldnt see ALOT of difference....
Then it comes down to the brand differences, most storm/roto pieces are cleaner than most (note: im saying MOST here people!) ebonite made covers...
