Review: Action Max
« on: July 02, 2006, 08:43:15 AM »
Bowler Info:
RH, 14-15mph, Medium Rev Rate, 4 3/4 x 0 PAP

Ball Info:
14# 4oz, Top 2 3/4 , Pin 3.5-4"

Surface:
3m Finesse over Box Finish

Layout Info:
5 X 4 from PAP, No Wt Hole
Side Wt: 1/2  Finger Wt: 1/8   Top Weight: 1oz  (After Drilling)

Lane Conditions Used On:
Typical House Shot with 11 to gutter 2 units.  Length Roughly 36-38 feet.
2 weeks in throwing it.

Obversations (Grades A=Excellent, B=Good, C=OK, D=Ugh!):

1)  Shelf Appeal (A)
One of the nicer colored C-300 balls in a while.   Polished brings out
the color contrasts.   Best to polish this bad boy and put it on your
    shelf to attract customers.

2)  Reaction (B)
Grade for this reaction is based on the fact that I am finding this ball
with at least this layout doesnt match up well with my release.  Even
polished on the described shot the ball is rolling up at 40-45 feet and
rolling out.  Discussed the issue with Joe J and both concur that this
cover/core combination with this layout may not be best with a bowler
with slower speed ball speeed and rev dominant.   May actually work out
quite well as a heavy oiler for me but the house shot we bowl on will
never allow for it to be thrown to find out.

I hope this small review will help you in deciding if the new Action Max is
right for you.   Thanks again to Joe J for all the help!

Joe

"..11 to gutter two units."...

Is this a typo?

Geesh.  Up here in God's country on the THS, we've got 3.5-4 units outside of five with 12 units from first to second arrow.  That seems awfully low.

Not kidding about the 2 units from 11 out...  Probably  has something to do
with the roll out problem I am having due to the low ball speed.  Thats why
I mentioned that.   Only reporting what I am told.

Thanks
Joe

10-4, Joe.

That ball is gonna quit long before it sees the headpin unless you're tossing it 20+ MPH.  Even with the normal surface adjustments to create length this ball is gonna burn up it's energy at 45 feet.  If this is what you normally encounter, I've got a polished WIne U-dot that would absolutely kill 'em at that house!

Joe not a problem for the help I definitly appreciate the business also thanks for the mini review.  Unfortunatley this cover is a bit to stong for your style.  Let me know if there is anything else I can do.

JDT Action Max Polished still is stronger than the AP.
