Arch Rival = Stud
« on: June 19, 2008, 09:56:51 AM »
My momentum cracked out about a month ago all around the fingers, so my pro shop guy sent it in and got a another one in. I told him I'd rather take the new arch rival that was coming out this week and he said fine, as soon as he got one it, we'd drill it up.

Well, today it came in. Layout was similar to my original Rival ( 4 1/2 x 4, no x-hole), but this one we drilled 4 1/2 X 3 with an x-hole on my axis.

Naturally, I got my Rival and compared it to the new Arch. After 2 games I have acknowledged that I love this ball as much as my original. Its clean through the heads but picks up the middle much stronger and has a much more defined brake point. While the original rival would just arc all the way down the lane, this one is still arcs, but much more in the last 40 feet.

I didn't have my momentum ( 5 1/2 X 4), and I know this ball is going to be much stronger than it.

The Arch Rival reminds me of the Ebonite Big One, so imo if you love the original this one will not disappoint.

Well, I didn't throw it next to my resurgence, but here's what I think would have happened.  My resurgence is drilled weaker than my rival and arch rival but going by my reaction today, it seems that the arch rival is almost as strong but has more backend.  I don't really throw my resurgence that much b/c it rolls so heavy, but the arch I could see using alot because it will let me get left very fast.  OOb finish the resurgence is probably the stronger ball, more even arc and smooth, the arch rival is stronger downlane.  As for the momentum, partly because of my weak drill, the arch rival is a good 10 boards left.

Are you saying that the Arch Rival is stronger than the Momentum? If that's the case, I'm probably going to pick that up instead of the Momentum Swing.

Arch Rival is definitely not stronger than the Momentum Swing
my guess on Columbia's lineup(from most oil-least)
Resurgence, Momentum Swing, Arch Rival, Noize, Momentum, Rival, Wrath HF, Wrath DF, Jazz
--------------------
My Arsenal:
Twisted Fury
Raw Hammer Pain
Blue Vibe
