Have this piece and I'm pleasantly surprised by how good it is for me
Put the pin under my ring finger which is approx 4" pin-pap for me
That is a fairly strong pin distance as I usually have most at 5" or so
This ball has more length than my GB2 and is harder arcing off the spot, but still predictable, which I like.
This is one of a few balls that I will definitely get another one.
I have only bought multiples of a few pieces. 505T and GB2 solid
I would classify this as medium - to medium strong piece
I had my PB on a sport pattern with this ball recently and it was one of those things where I matched up perfectly for that condition.
We had a funky house experience a few days ago where I would normally play 10 to 5 or so to start, all we had was ball reading right away and done by 30'
That was from the start.
Pulled out the Sideswipe Solid and soft hooked it 18-12 or so and this thing came alive. Salvaged a poor start to the night to leave the lanes with something positive.
Don't overlook this ball

I recently punched this one up, and it's a whole lot stronger than I expected. I thought about putting a 4000 finish on it, but will wait on that for now. The ball picks up the midlane well and makes a strong arc on the backend.
I always like to take a fresh cover to the USBCs, and I picked this one on advice from Columbia and my pro shop guy. I had a couple practice sessions with it, and used it in a tournament yesterday, but it was too strong for the condition.

I've had the Sideswipe solid for a couple of months now. I drilled it pin up, above my ring finger, 4 1/2" from PAP.
I agree, this ball is longer and snappier than I expected it to be. I resisted the urge to knock the cover down. The ball mellowed out a bit after approx 20 games. Before I took it to Nationals, I changed to cover to 2000. That gave me closer to the shape that I desired.
If I were to drill another one, I would put a pin down layout on it.
Overall, the ball stays in my bag on a THS, but sees much use on Medium sport patterns.

I've had the Sideswipe Solid for about 4-5 weeks now. It's drilled with the pin up and about 4 1/2" from my pap. The ball, for me, is stronger than I expected. I just had the pro-shop polish it to see about getting a little more length and I'll get a chance to try it this week. I would like to pick up a pearl that has a little more back-end and maybe be slightly stronger than this ball. I'm thinking about the Hammer Phenom. Anyone have an idea on how these two balls might compare?
-
Phenom pearl is going to be a bit earlier and more of an arcing motion compared to the sudeswipe solid.
A few good pearls out there right now:
Scandal Pearl
Cyborg Pearl
Maverick Pearl

Sorry, what I intended to say was the "Hammer Phobia". How do you think that would work along with the Sideswipe?

Good compliment, different shape for sure
longer, cleaner, predictable in my opinion.
I have mine with the pin in the palm, so its a bit hard to compare the 2 in that respect
