Some bowling balls should never retire.
« on: November 27, 2003, 06:07:41 AM »
Every year we have a group of people go bowling on the night before thanksgiving. We usually go to the house play leagues in. They have 3 man league there on Wednesday nights and thats what I was following.

Well I decided to take some old equipment to the lanes instead of what I take leagues (I already know how my current arsenal will do). So I load up four balls: White Dot (I use this one in leagues), Purple Quake, CSI Wild Fire, and Cuda/C.

Started throwing the Quake first. Couldn't find a line for the first 5 frames. This ball was jumping a little too much or just not finishing right. The lanes were pretty oily so I new the Wild Fire was out of the question. So I go to the Cuda/C. WOW! And I mean WOW! I didn't quite line up on the first shot, but once I made the right adjustment, I was ripping the pins apart.

This ball still had plenty of kick. I only had one open all nite. I don't what it is but this ball seems to really work for me. I tried different lines, played it straight in the oil: STRIKE. Played it out to edge: Came Back hard and STRIKE! It was amazing.

I think I am going to put in the bag for my next league and try it out. I have kept it in pretty good shape over the years. I wish I had another one.

When I saw your topic - I just knew you were going to mention the Cuda/C. My favorite ball of all-time and though I haven't thrown mine for a while, there still are quite a few of them still being used in the leagues I bowl in. Maybe I'll just have to bring mine out of the basement.

By the title I thought he might mention the Super Beast or the Pulse.  Man, I used to LOVE those balls!

Yep. I'd still love to find a Cuda/C in decent shape. My hubby had one, but I've never thrown one...

Ooops,

Is this a Colubia forum??

Oh well, I just wrote a review about my old Walter Ray Williams MVP from Brunswick.

They should just keep making it!

Same as my Crimson Red Sledgehammer!

I have an Aulby MVP every time I think of getting rid of this ball. I'll use it one more time and do something stupid like shooting 299. So I keep that ball. It's got some type of magic. Anyone want to buy it?

Well its nice to hear some fans of the Cuda/C. I took it to leagues tonite and threw a 649. Not too shabby.

I can remember subbing in a league back in the late 90's and seeing two or three Beast's on most the ball returns. It was a small house (16 lanes). Everybody was playing about the same line.

I knew there would be other balls mentioned. It would be great if the manufacturers could develop a process to reproduce these balls in small quantities.

LuckyLefty, Nice Save with Reaction Rev! Since you are replying in a Columbia forum.

The Triton Elite pearl will be in my bag for a long time to come yet, the Pulse is having a rest from the main bag for now but i'm sure he'll find a way back in as always.
