Suggestions on how to drill my World Beater?
« on: January 17, 2011, 01:12:12 PM »
I'm looking for some suggestions on how I should drill my new World Beater, any help would be great.

A little background...
I bowl 75% of my time on THC (medium to high oil), with the rest on sport and kegel, I hold a 198 average. I've been bowling with the same ball for almost 4 years now, C300 Rival.  It's pretty aggressive the way I bowl.  I'm usually rolling somewhere over 33rd to the 17th board depending on how the lanes change. I throw between 14 and 15 mph, 15 lbs ball, I put a lot of rev on the ball, but I'm very much a tweener and not a cranker, my style is very much like Chris Barnes, except for his ball speed.

I think that I want a much more controlled arc, rather than an aggressive one like I'm seeing with my Rival (the pin is to the upper right of my ring finger, no X hole in the ball).  And I would like to be able to roll more so over the 20-10 boards, rather than have to play so far left all the time while still keeping my high revs on the ball.  Basically, I would really love to throw where Chris Barnes was throwing vs Bill O'Neill when he won the triple crown this last weekend.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you and this is my first post so please be kind :)

if you are that far in with a rival, the world beater is much stronger. you may want to think about a different ball like the burst if you want to play straighter. i have a burst that replaced my rival perfectly. only difference is that its  bit more rolly with a more even arc

The world beater is a lot stronger than the original rival, but if your bent on getting a world beater and trying to play straighter, I'd suggest a negative pin under the middle finger and have the mb kicked to the right .  That, or you could put the pin in the track area and have the mb barely right of your thumb to create a heavy rolling ball that won't stop.  Both layouts are viable, but even then I do not think it will be less aggressive than a rival.
