Title: Time to say good bye.
Post by: Hoselrockets on January 30, 2007, 10:39:43 PM
Just wanted to let everyone on these forums I'm deciding to retire from participating on the Ballreviews.com. Not that many of you would mind but I think it's the best to say goodbye.  I just don't want to get caught up with all the rumors that seem to fly around these boards.  I come on here to help people but as soon as I defend my company I become the bad guy and all I wanted was to be on here to help out the customers.  The customers that we both share. For those of you that personally know me please feel free to contact me via my cell or work email. Good luck to all, happy keggling and go Columbia!!!

You shouldn't let the a holes bother you. The people that you help will sorely miss you. Just hit the ignore button, it works great.

This is ridiculous.

A major company's product rep, an "insider", so to speak, has chosen to walk away from a site because of a few bad apples that couldn't spell cat if you gave them the "c" and the "t".  Joe, you've been a trusted member of this site for me and many more.  Try to reach the conclusion that I learned in the car business long ago, "You cannot overcome stupid."  Simply put, most of the people that choose to bad mouth C300 are gonna be unhappy with just about every facet of their miserable lives, and this is just a way for them to grab some attention and try to get under the skin of somebody else.

Joe, do what you feel is correct and just for your situation.  However, the ignore function is a beautiful thing.

Joe,

I am not a Columbia guy.  But I am a bowler.  And I hate to see well-respected people become discouraged over some dolts that decide they want attention and bash someone from their Wendy's-wrappered bedrooms in Mommy's house.  I have read your posts and I am (to say the least) intrigued by your product knowledge and passion for the game.

As previous posters have reiterated, do what you must.  But just know, should you decide to leave, you will be missed by a good many people.

This is a shame. Joe is one of the good guys. It seems that anytime someone comes on these boards and tries to help from an inside point of view they get chased away.

Thats exactly why we lost Ron Hickland last year. Some idiot was on the Ebonite forum crying about how Ebonite did this and did that to screw over the pro shops and he was just tired of explaining the companies side of things so he left.. It was great having an insider here to answer questions..

Once again, a valuable asset to the br.com site is gone due to a few bad apples.. Sad, very sad..

And just like Ron Hickland, Brian Graham, and many others, a great source of knowledge leaves the boards because people don't know when to shut up about something they don't know about.

Honestly it's one of the reasons I don't spend as much time here as I did in the past...my online business has suffered and I have had problems keeping the cashflow going but oh well...you have to do what you have to do.

We need the ball reps here but the problem is that some people on here insist they know more than the guys who made the ball. I don't get it.

My rantings....

You need a skin layering job. Not defending those who bash your company, you would know best about your company and though I don't buy Columbia they are a premier ball manufacturer. Yet you need to remember idiots are everywhere and this after all is just a bowling forum with some idiots. Hope you get back online. (Thick skin is important when dealing with stupid mean people.)

Joe, it's those few so called know it all who discourage a rep like yourself and others to give your opinions on bowling and equipment.  Those know it all are probably 180 avg house bowlers who don't have a clue about the game.

I think it is time to man up as they say there Joe, I throw your brands of products and have gave honest answers to your products in my real world use. As one other guy said the thread above i am one of the house hacks on this board big deal does that make me less of a person???

Stay on here be a real asset to this board and take the heat when needed, do i also post rumors sure Joe yes i do when i hear them from good sources. In fact i knew before Del quit that there was trouble brewing and you know what i have bought since that time Track and other balls made by Columbia. It is your call here i am throwing the Big Sot tonight and will post how it is for me just a regular crappy house hack how it rolls

Feel free to serach my posts i call every company fairly and have posted other negative stuff that i hear about other ball companies, so it is in no way a shot at just Columbia Industries.

As they say Man Up get some kahonas and defend when necessary and listen to us trolls like me when for a non 220 plus bowler that the ball does not do what you market it to. I make no apologies to anyone on here for the different stuff i post but i never mean personally make you or anyone else quit this free speech forum.

So i am actually asking you to stay and i respect you highly and your opinions, think about that before you leave us hanging which really looks worse to all of us. We can disagree that is why we are all here do not take anything personal you read on here out.

Joe,

Please reconsider your decision. Your insight and knowledge of the products are an asset to this site and the Columbia forum.

I am not going anywhere because of some rumors or some bashing. After all it's just the internet. Words on a forum can come across the wrong way and they often do. The fact is we are all bowlers, regardless of being a hack or a pro. Everyone's opinion should be taken with a grain of salt. We can always agree to disagree.

We all love bowling and we should support it in every way we can. Bowling is not dying, it's evolving. Go with the flow, educate as many people as you can and maybe they will become life-long bowlers like myself.....

Jon your the man you get this board and what is all about, Joe realize when you spend 150 plus dollars and the ball does not preform like you were told that people get upset and look for answers on why it did not work.

I think it shows guts to stay on here and say what is needed and be helpful when you can, why leave then they beat you. I do not post alot on your posts but like many i read everything you post because i know you very good at what you do on here.

Sorry to see these guys go, but here's my OPINION on the matter:

It's great that the reps/designers/presidents/CEO's,CIO's, etc want to be here and provide us with information and help - it helps them promote their products and company.

I think it's perfectly reasonable for these guys to pick and choose what they want to say and respond to.  I don't have any problem with a company person saying "I'm not going to get involved with rumors.  I'm here to help with product information.  If you have a question or problem, I will help as much as I can, but I cannot and will not get involved in name calling, etc."

I think the reps, company guys, etc, should all have seperate accounts so that they can be "human" like the rest of us.

People come on here and try to pick fights with these guys, and as soon as they act "human," they are flooded with "that's not very professional, you are disgracing your company, that's why I won't buy your products."

Joe, Phil, Jeff, Ron and the others take time out of their days to come here and contribute and try to help.  It's really sad that they feel they can no longer come here and reach a large portion of the bowling community because of a few jerks.

Any idiot with an internet connection can come on here and pretend to be an "expert."  It's pretty sad that those people are chasing away the few true "experts" that we have.

Well for those of you that don't PERSONALLY know Joe, you should know him leaving is a HUGE deal for this board.  I am lucky enough to be able to speak face to face with him every Friday night and this guy is straight up knowledgeable, as well as being one of the nicest guys I have ever met.  Oh yea he's not too shabby of a bowler either.

Joe I'm not sure if you're still around, but if you are and you see this...I'm looking into some C300 stuff (Big Shot, Wrath SF) maybe we can have a chat soon for some reccomendations.

I too have enjoyed your posts, and will miss the benefit of your insight.

In any job where customer complaints can cost you your job, I think that it is best to avoid emotional input - give and get the facts and let passion be reserved for your close friends.  You are an asset to all of us here and I hope you change your mind.

Joe, glad to see that you will still be around.

Even though I dont use a lot of Columbia equipment, I would hate to see anyone with your knowledge and inside info leave this site.  Thanks for sticking it out.
