Title: Which ball compares
Post by: thewhiz on March 23, 2015, 09:27:54 PM
I have a green motive ascent and was wondering which columbia ball would compare to it?

Columbia's Deep Freeze would be a close comparison.  Core numbers are similar, and I would imagine the covers are similar in strength as well.  The Deep Freeze retails for about $15-20 less, an added bonus!

I think the Deep Freeze will be a bit stronger than the green Motiv Ascent.  The Ascent (not the Ascent Apex) will fall in between the Scouts and the Deep Freeze.  The Blurs and the other Freezes I think will be a bit stronger also.

I would agree with your assessment, spmcgivern.  I would be surprised if the Deep Freeze ended up weaker than the Ascent, wouldn't be surprised if it was a touch stronger.

a longer pin-pap layout would tame a deep freeze down a little bit

I have the Blur pearl and Deep Freeze! When the Blur pearl is forcing me left, I go to the Deep Freeze and move back where I started the night! I usually start with the Disruption and make the same adjustment when I switch to the Blur pearl. I also had a Accent before and it's tame like the Deep Freeze. I wouldn't want both in my bag cause they are so close it wouldn't be worth having them both.
